Okay, the rules for this thread are that each post has to be relevant or related in some way to the post above it, but _can't_ be related to the one before that one. Any questions?

Isn't it a bit difficult to make sense of the rules of this game until there's a last and last but one post to relate to and ignore respectively? Luckily I seem to have solved the problem by asking this question. Perhaps this is just one of those lucky coincidences life is full of.

How would it be a coincidence if you did it on purpose? I thought coincidences by definition were up to chance.

Wayfarer-- I only wish I were crackly

actually, a coincidence is just things that happen at the same time. sort of. take the roots: co- (together) -incidence. words are funny things.

Wayfarer-- I only wish I were crackly

(please just consider this an addition to my last post.) although that's not the exact wording. it's two things that coincide.

But how exactly do you define "ordinary" on h2g2? I mean, something can't really be weird and ordinary at the same time. Normal, on the other hand, simply refers to what happens most often, so this conversation could be called normal within the environment.

Wayfarer-- I only wish I were crackly

normal is relative anyway, and one of the factors *is* the environment it's in.

while normal is relative, relatives are certainly not normal.smiley - winkeye

Isn't it prunes or dried figs that keep us going...?

There's a Pub near us called the Inn on the Pond, at some times of year, the Pond *almost* dries up, and it becomes the pub on the puddle!

Good Food, and Beer all the time though - LambShank is definitely worth the cycle ride!

How long a cycle ride is it worth?

The worth of anything is determined by a confusing, and almost completely useless, calculation, which I, as Keeper of Calculations, have mislaid at the moment.....

Of course, it would be easier to find if you had written it down in the first place...smiley - winkeye
