Wayfarer-- I only wish I were crackly Posted Aug 13, 2001
i once heard it said that the funny crossbar on the seven is from when all the numbers had the same number of angles as themselves. so 1 has 1 angle, 2(shaped more like Z) has two, 3 (again, more angular) has three and of course 7 had 7, of course even with the crossbar which adds 4 angles and a little hanging thing at the top it's still short one.

I crossbar my Zs because otherwise they look like 2s but only when I'm handwriting.

I used to get up at 5 am for school. I'd take my shower and then (theoretically) do my homework... Now that I have a full-time job, I get up at 5:30 am

I once did my homework theoretically. They made me write out "I must not be hypothetical at shool" one hundred times. I never thought that was very realistic.

I had a friend once who tried to explain not having done physics homework by explaining that, by the theories of quantum mechanics, the homework was not only on his desk at home but everywhere in the universe, including the teacher's desk. It was just her fault that she collapsed the probability waveform by looking there first.

If any of the students tried that one in the Niels Bohr institute, they were made to stand in a cupboard.

Was it a Bohring cupboard? (Sorry, couldn't resist)

It contained an Ironing Bohrd.

Was that so physicist could study them to find the perplexing reason why nobody else has rumpled clothes?

Doesn't everyone have rumpled clothes, at the quantum level?

Very recently, while attempting to play Topic drift, I was asked that very question. I was tempted to reply that the topic had drifted, it just didn't seem that way. Except, of course, I would then have been reaching back, past the last post, and possibly well into previous ones. I decided, on balance, just to stick to the last post, which concerns the playing of Topic drift, as it is happening now. Hopefully that should sort things out and prevent this sort of anarchy ever breaking out again in Topic drift. If the Topic didn't drift in Topic drift, where would we be then? We would be drifting and topic-less.

Wouldn't a fridge be a bit hard on the teeth?
Topic Drift
Encapsulated Life Pod Number 3- Muse of Gibberish Posted Aug 14, 2001
I once had a fridge that was hard on the teeth. It was always telling them that they were stupid teeth who probably couldn't bite through soup, and that they were always just lying around the house, picking at themselves, and why couldn't they tidy up every now and again... that sort of thing. Of course, I've got a much nicer fridge now, though it does have a go at my toes every now and again.

Fridges and toes, always a problem eh? Almost as bad as playful kittens who think toes are some other cat-toy to be nibbled with those sharp little teeth they have. Ever tried walking round somebody's house trying to dislodge a persistent young feline from your slippers?

You can create perpetual motion my tying two cats back to back and dropping them from a high place. Perpetual motion can also be obtained by tying a piece of bread, butter side up, to the back of a cat and dropping them from a high place because a slice of bread will always land butter side down and a cat will always land on its feet.
