Well ... let me report this modest success to y'all. This evening I gave a talk to our bird club! It was about extinct birds. I had illustrated all of these old birds; with a friend's help I made a slide show, with my illustrations, plus photos showing what the fossils and skeletons look like I used for making my reconstructions, and told them a few bits of info on each species. It went well, everyone said they liked it and asked questions I was able to answer, and two people asked me to give the same talk to other groups they were involved in! So ... it makes me feel a bit useful.

You obviously did a great job! Congratulations, Willem. I only hope that some of your venues can see their way clear to giving you an honourarium that would be nice.

What wonderful news! It's always lovely to hear someone talk on a subject they know and love - even if one never has heard of it before, the enthusiasm is really contagious!
