damn you Auntie Tefket, why'd you have to post piccies? I've spent all this time time thinking 'wow, that house sounds like exactly the sort of place I'd like to live' and then consoling myself with the thought that it won;t be as good as it sounds. But it is smiley - wah not fair! smiley - sadface

Nice gaff, cool view and your vewy own Dylan from Magic Roundabout smiley - winkeye

hehe "Auntie Tefket" sounds Ancient Egyptian

Console yourself with the fact that it's really tatty and very little grows up here. Today, while Lurch was trying to fill stones back in round the new outlet pipe for the downstairs loo the leaky bath above him decided this was the time to deteriorate. smiley - laugh (picture of Lurch => smiley - wah ) and it was a 10 minute hailstorm that caused that raging torrent on the track in #3.

>> Nice gaff, cool view <<
smiley - ta. You'll have to come and visit if you ever make it this far north.

>> your vewy own Dylan <<
Do you mean Lurch or the smiley - dog? smiley - biggrin

yes but old houses have that about them, always something to do. Reminds me of a mates house up near scarborough when he was cleaning off the old render. Discovered that a 6ft by 3 ft section of the bathroom wall was not actually physically attached to the rest of the house and the only thing stopping half the bathroom disappearing into the garden was the render!
I feel you already know the answer to the question about Lurch, I mean Dylan.

I went looking at local areas to move into and went round one of the 5-10 yr old estates. I actually shuddered as I drove round it, the claustrophobia is so heavy, a real atmosphere to the place. modern housing estates Thing is, I just can;t afford an interestingly ramshackled country cottage.

Auntie Tefket, hey, wouldn;t be a post from me if I hadn;t had 3 beers and made an amusing mistake smiley - winkeye

smiley - yikes

At one point we had a 500 year old 7-bedroom (by the time we'd converted the barn) house in 7 acres that actually cost less than one of the horrible little boxes on the new estates in the town. People will pay a premium to live in those awful places for some reason.

We've just been looking at a gorgeous little shell, in its own valley, that Lurch says is actually bigger than ours (the house, not the valley) on the market for £85,000.

But it'll cost £10,000 to get the spring drilled out again and you'd have to install a wind turbine, there's no phone reception and the road's not going to be on the council's priority list for plowing smiley - snowball
