Tefkat, how did I miss you?? I am at w**k, yes, yes, I know it's Sunday, long story, will Mistral.......

Thought I'd log on and keep myself amused in between onerous tasks - no-one about! Left a few messages and got stuck in to said onerous tasks. Returned, and you'd been and gone!!

Tomato plants planted? Son rehearsed? Baby born? Comfrey jungle hacked? Actually, what is comfrey? It's not that plant with large furry leaves, and little blue flowers and a tenacious grip on its roots, is it? If so, I've got one of those as well. Does it have a use?

Ah well, smiley - chocsmiley - cuddlesmiley - kissback to the grindstone

Ah. More of the water tank overtime huh?

Tomato plants planted. Son rehearsed. Baby not born yet. Comfrey jungle half hacked. (Keep having to run away - the bumblers love it) Comfrey IS that plant with large furry leaves, and little blue flowers and a tenacious grip on its roots. It purportewdly has a use but could be carcinogenic. I'll find the info.

You have one? Only one? It hasn't taken over yet?

I meant one jungle!!

It doesn't come in ones, does it? I have lived in my house for 34 years now, and it was there when we moved in. No amount of hacking/digging/persauding has shifted it, and so some of those plants are at least 34 years old!! Doesn't bear thinking about.

What you doing up, anyway.

Yes, it was more of the water tank overtime, but it was also necessary for the sanity of the lads here. (see Mistral)

Hi UG!! My two pence worth.... Comfrey is a member of the Borage and Forget-me-not tribe! The root and leaves can be used medicinally. Can be used for treatment of dysentry and diarrhoea. I dont know how/what to mix but im sure there is summat on net somewhere.. hang on.....

Culppepers says..."'The great Comfrey ("great" to distinguish it from the "Middle Comfrey" - another name for the Bugle) restrains spitting of blood. The root boiled in water or wine and the decoction drank, heals inward hurts, bruises, wounds and ulcers of the lungs, and causes the phlegm that oppresses him to be casily spit forth.... A syrup made there of is very effectual in inward hurts, and the distilled water for the same purpose also, and for outward wounds or sores in the fleshy or sinewy parts of the body, and to abate the fits of agues and to allay the sharpness of humours. A decoction of the leaves is good for those purposes, but not so effectual as the roots. The roots being outwardly applied cure fresh wounds or cuts immediately, being bruised and laid thereto; and is specially good for ruptures and broken bones, so powerful to consolidate and knit together that if they be boiled with dissevered pieces of flesh in a pot, it will join them together again.'

There is probably a more user friendly version of "how to use it" out there somewhere!

smiley - wow It finally let me post!

It kept saying "Hello Tefkat" at the top and "You are not here" in the
middle.

Then it decided to be supremely generous: "If you're not a member of
bbc.co.uk and do not want to become one right now you can continue
browsing."

Don't want to be a wet blanket but http://seasilver.threadnet.com/Preventorium/comfrey.htm

and http://www.bccancer.bc.ca/PPI/UnconventionalTherapies/Comfrey.htm

I'd say best to use comfrey ONLY as a wet blanket smiley - winkeye

smiley - towel

I find arnica and the blue plastic ice-packs you use in coolboxes quite adequate though. smiley - tongueout

(Not sure I can get to Mistral UGgie. I'll try.)

Cool gaff! Very nice indeed.

One day, one day. Hopefully getting nearer as I should be on step 2 of the ladder by the end of the year which I think is probably only 2 steps away from the sort of house I really want. All things come to he who waits.

Thanks!

I just read that they think house prices are going to start falling soon, which should help with your differential.
