Weather: Not too bad: sunny after early fog.
Events: Today is my own birthday!
Well, that was some weekend. All 3 sons coming and going, some having visitors. I was continually making sandwiches and cooking but it was worth it. I also made them all up little Advent parcels, containing
- some chocolates,
- a tiny string of battery-operated Christmas lights
- a plastic container with the ingredients for making biscuits with spicy flavourings, the recipe, and a seasonal-shaped cutter.
They have now all returned to their respective corners of Germany, well fed and carrying bits of home to enjoy between now and Christmas when they all come home again.
Balancing all those thoughts about food and food parcels over the weekend wasn't the end of the story, though. As it's my birthday today I decided to do what the Germans call Gulaschsuppe - that is a meat-based stew, but more like a soup than a stew. Buying stewing steak on Saturday would be too far in advance, so I ordered some to pick it up this morning. I'll make the stew tonight and bring it along tomorrow. That way I can warn everyone in the office that they don't need to bring anything to eat for lunch tomorrow, and I won't be full of meaty soup when my husband and I go out for dinner tonight.
While picking up the meat this morning, I realised I hadn't catered for lunch today, so I picked up a cheese roll, and a soft raisin bun for my coffee break. I was happily chewing on the bun this morning when a filling fell out. ?&%ยง"=### I hope I can live with that until next Monday when I have a dentist's appointment anyway.
Why on earth do we have to eat?

We have to eat because bacon tastes goooooooooooood. And of course, there would be no birthday 
without it.
