Slave labourers

Post 1

No mention of the fact that the people 'employed' to build the temple were paid virtually nothing, and there has been major outcry about the fact that it was basically been built by slave labourers?

This outcry has not come from the labourers themselves, who carried out the work for the glory of their religion. Like the many small businesses (particularly around NW10) who donated hand over foot to fund the project, their devotion is probably not unconnected with the enormous peer pressure brought to bear upon them by leading figures in their society.

in this age ... in UK... do u have slave labourerers? The temple built in UK or India.. doesnt really matter for the labourere, it is a source for his next meal.
He would carve the motif with the same love and care ... u give him a 100 bucks or a 1000!!!!!
thats the way the world works!!

Hello
I have a faith to follow and if there was help needed, help that would convert itself into a benefit for my faiths house and its believers, and if I were to be willing to provide this help because of my beliefs and these benefits then, NO!, I do not consider myself a 'slave'.
Thank you for listening.

I think you should check your facts before you post, the temple you're talking about is the one that is under construction in Ealing Road in Wembley.

When the Swaminarayan Temple was being built a whole series of minature villages were set up at the various places when work was goin on with clean, filtered running water, electricity, sleeping rooms, a canteens etc. The majority of people who carved the stone for the London Temple (and the other 18 Swaminarayan Temples in India, Africa and America) volunteered thier services in the name of God. They jumped at the chance to serve the Lord seflessly.

I can't comment on the Ealing Temple because i do not know enough about the issue, but i do know for a fact that the Swaminarayan Temple was a labour of love, dedicated to the Lord. It brought the whole community together, and created new links with other communities.

If you knew the Swaminarayan Organisation as I do you would realise that they would never treat anybody as slaves, only as brothers and sisters. Take a look at thier website to see thier Philsophy and Beliefs: www.swaminarayan.org
