The h2g2 christmas meet happened on Saturday...

Lots
As the photos show...
Oh, btw, would you be interested in a Maths Institute on Guide? It would probably be run as a project organiser for mathematical projects so that they follow some guidelines. I reckon entry requirements of at least one mathematical project (which follows the H2G2 MI guidelines) through the system are sensible for membership. Any thoughts?

You should know me well enough by now to realize that math isn't my forte. But since you're asking my opinion despite this, I'd say that sounds reasonable. How is it different from the University math section?

Different structure.
The university can have any projects at any time, the institute ( http://www.h2g2.com/U162115 ) is more rigid and planned. It also is planned to act as a discussion area soley on interesting maths problems we find which articles are written about. We can pose and solve problems and plan great project arcs.
It is the difference between a publisher and a printer really.

Looks like a good idea. But you need some way to get the word out. I know firsthand what happens to a good idea when nobody knows it's there.

Don't spam. Network. Ask Shazz to put a mention in the POST or something. Worked great for ICARUS while it was still around.

I'm writing an article for them this week so I will ask nicely.

Intelligence Crusading Against Rampant Unchecked Stupidity. ICARUS. Where everybody sent all the stupid warning labels to, thus defeating my attempt to use the h2g2 community's combined intellect to solve the problem of stupid people.

But then I'd have to write a column on a regular basis. I don't want that kind of responsibility. One of the the reasons I shut the original ICARUS down was because I couldn't deal with updating the thing all the time, and then people would say things like "why haven't you updated" and make me feel guilty.

How about as an occasional aside. Just submit additions every once in a while. Don't promise it regularly.
