Its a bit brief, and dry as I didn't want it to be too much like "My school days remembered". Thoughts?

Hi Duncan,

Sorry nobody has followed this up earlier - hopefully I can rectify that smiley - winkeye

I think there are two ways you can go with this: the first way is the "information only" route, and if you want to do that you'll have to remove all references to yourself and your time there, and maybe add some more information. Has the school produced any famous alumni? Are there scholarships for promising local students? What is its relationship to the local community? You could also expand on references to (for example) "the" coup d'etat - when was that, what was the result, and what was its influence on the school (to stay on-topic)?

The other way is to write the piece you said you were avoiding - a "personal experience" piece of what it's like to be a student at an international school, what a day is like, and again how you relate to the local population. This would be in the tradition of entries such as http://www.h2g2.com/A169652, about an experience most us couldn't imagine.

Either way (or write one of each!) would be an interesting addition to the Guide.

Right so - I'll go down the information only route and wait for a "Everybody's talking about..." collaborative effort on being a school student.
Thus I can get in both boarding school and international school experiences.
I shall look for more info on the coup d'etat...I was quite young when it happened and so only remember odd things like collecting spent cartridges for swapsies at school and the like.

Duncan, are you still working on this? It's an excellent start but needs a bit of rounding out as mentioned above.

I can't work on this - I'm on a work to rule at the moment.
(Basically I am protesting against the rule banning us from discussing the general election and until that matter is addressed I can't work on anything else).

Mr. Cogito

Hello,

That's unfortunate, because I've been really impressed with your work so far, but you have a good point and you're sticking to your principles. I hope the Beeb gets its act together, so we can continue improving the Guide.

Yours,
Jake

As I understand it, Mark has started a thread where people can comment on the Brit election - though why anyone would want to beats me smiley - bigeyes
