If you'd just like to chat about random stuff, <./>MiscChat</.> is the best place.
If you want to ask a question (about anything!) then go to the site's busiest place, <./>Askh2g2</.>.
Other than that, the best way to find people interested in a similar subject to you is to post in the forum for that subject, or find a club in the classified ads section of <./>ThePost</.>.
