I Hate My Neighbours!
Hati Started conversation Dec 2, 2012
Honstly, I believe that neighbours are sent to us as a punishment for our sins or something in that line. I've lived in more that 10 places in my life and there has always been a neighbour to ruin everything.
Right now there's no drunks or completely mental people in the house, so I don't have to worry about someone setting the house in fire. Even the guy who took burning ashes out and set the trash bin in fire, has probably learnt his lesson. And the 24*7 barking dog moved away with its family.
Now I have the neighbours who complain that I smoke indoors, yet they leave their cigaret butts in the backyard. I have neighbours who don't shovel, yet they park their car in the backyard. I have neighbours who leave the front door open and all the cold comes to my flat. Oh, and they happily lock the trashbin that I had just opened for the trash truck. Pay for nothing, next round in 2 weeks.
Yep, I hate my neighbours. Merry Christmas time to them, and you as well.

Ventilation is a tricky thing, Pete - on my floor, with only three flats, my neighbour opposite me moved because she couldn't stand the cigarette smoke coming from the neighbour between us - yet I never smelled anything.

We don't have ventilation. Then again, it's an old wooden house, things move around here in a weird ways. Oh well, that family has moved out again. I can listen to music again, at least.
Today there's a blizzard. I wonder if there's any neighbour left who knows how to use a shovel.

Hati, you have my sympathy. I have fairly good neighbors now, but there have been times in the past when I'd have cheerfully thumped the lot of them.

As you know, Hati, I live in a detached house of my own so don't have your problems
However the old lady next door moved out and soon after died (whodathunk, she was only 99) and now a very young couple with a small baby live there, so next summer could be interesting. Quiet partying when the little one has to nap?
Oh well, we've been there before. We'll just play some Metallica till she sleeps

If weaned early enough, babies can sleep through most everything. Or they could get a pair of these:

Sometimes residents of detached houses also have lousy neighbors. Very lousy ones. But I agree that it is worse in an apartment.

I have a nice backyard, but it's only closed to three sides - on the fourth I have three neighbours looking down on me from their balconies...
I'm w*rking on it though. Will create a few corners where NObody can see me

Couple days ago I discussed the neighbour issue with a friend of mine. Her closest neighbours live 500 m away. Few years ago she had a neighbour who used to lurk on others with binoculars. You are never safe from your neighbours.

An Estonian werewolf once told me about a guy who played radio so loud he could hear it all over his farm - and so could his neighbours, who lived miles away

Ah yes, and it's common practice to listen to the radio while mowing lawn. Especially on Saturday morning in a summerhouse region.
