I know somebody who knows somebody

And that's the way things work in this ing country. With population of 1.3 million it's quite possible to run a country this way. Still it's annoying. Instead of getting things done "by the rules" I must call people, ask for favour, pester my friends etc. If I try to get things done in the normal way I'm told that it's complicated, takes time, the queue is in a months time etc. If I call my friend in the same business, I hear that it's a piece of cake.
Well, I know a lot of people. I can get my things done. But I don't like the way it works.

Yes, cunning theory. The down side is that this whole country is run according to it. I just experienced it again in a car rental.

.. mm .. the result counts
in the sequence of societies there are several options:
- the society where everything just moves by itself, ask and you'll receive
- the society where you have to know the right people to get something done
- the society where you have to pay the right people to get something done
Make your choice, I don't know any country in the first category

Shouldn't category one theoretically be the Vatican? Isn't there some biblical bit about "Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek and ye shall find"?

Here we say "It's not what you know but who you know" and it's the same the over, not just your country
I like my "who I knows"

I still donät like it. Even our political parties are all centric as they are not built on views but on who knows whom.

well.. there's no reason to like it I agree..
but it's the same the whole planet over I'm afraid..
well
that is .. I've never been in the vatican yet, not as one of the incrowd that is, I've been there as a tourist and to me it was one of the "pay up, sucker" countries (3rd category that is)

if all the sighs in the world would be collected we would have an alternative energy!

I think this city runs on sighs and other expressions of gloom. *sigh* Oh dear, there's another one.

It is a bit gloomy here at the moment - it's not just the weather, but everything has been swamped by politics. There'll be an election soon...

My proposition for alternative energy: you know all those people supposedly turning in their graves? Put a belt around them and hook them up to a dynamo!
