You should guard your health, then, gentlemen. The world seems to lose people worth keeping....

One of our choral members lost her mother to Covid-19 the other day.

it seems unbearably sad that people who reach their late eighties and beyond seek out safe places to spend what few years remain for them. Then, come to find out, these final havens are too often run by overstressed administrators who can't find topnotch help, and when a virus gets entrenched there, it's like a buffet table for the illness.

Having said that, I think that the news media are guilty of lacking perspective. They don't seem to mind letting the general public think that Covid-19 is an automatic death sentence for the oldest people, when in fact about two-thirds of those infected even in the above-80 demographic do in fact survive it. In various parts of the world, there have been cases in which people over 100 have sailed through the infection.

I get tired of hearing warnings about the virus on the public-address system in every supermarket I visit. This is not making anyone's life pleasant. They must think we have been living in caves all along, or can't remember even the simplest safety precautions, and need to be reminded of them over and over again.

Covid-19 is no longer infecting many new people in Massachusetts. Nowadays, less than 300 new cases a day are being reported.....

And, yes, I too am guilty of harping on this sad disease. I beg your forgiveness for having brought it up again. Yesterday I saw an elderly mn, bent over, hurrying into a pharmacy, complaining about having to wear a mask. I said that I hated the mask too!

Well, come to Texas. I rarely hear reminders about social distancing and face masks at the supermarkets here. smiley - rolleyes
