Thanks everybody 
After my latest gout attack I'm taking a tablet every morning with my breakfast. Allopurinol. Keeps the gout well away. Only have had a slight reminder of it a couple of times

I don't know how those pills might work at all. I suspect that placebos would work a lot of he time as well.

Nor should you. But who knows what's really in those pills that doctors prescribe, and what they might turn out to be doing to you after ten or fifteen years.
