Goodbye Mom
Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~ Started conversation Oct 28, 2014
We performed a burial service over our mother today. She died peacefully in her sleep the night between 18 and 19 October, 85 years old. Wish we could all meet such a merciful death. But unfortunately neither life nor death is always as fair as we would like.
The service went well and the weather was perfect. This time of year we could easily have had both storm and rain, but it was the finest indian summer. Mom would have been pleased

everybody
The circumstances could have been better but meeting all my four siblings, their partners, my three children, their partners and cousins plus my granddaughter was very nice
It was the greatest joy in Mom's later years that she became a great-grandmother in May and was able to attend little Filippa Marie's christening in August - even if she had to travel a long way and spend several nights away from home to do so

Condolences Pierce - I am so sorry for your loss.
A merciful death is what I pray for my parents, when the time comes, it is preferable to many long months or years of pain and suffering.
Of course you may undoubtedly feel suddenly shocked by her passing. Sending much love for you.

I lost my mother about a year and a half ago. I find myself dreaming that she recovered and got stronger instead of dying. The dreams mean that I miss her. Maybe you'll have that kind of dreams someday, Pierce. I assure you that they are comforting.

Mother's urn was lowered into the ground today, 17 November 2014, which would have been my father's 95th birthday had he still been alive, but he's been dead for 42 years already. He used to be 10 years older than her, but in the end she was 32 years older than he ever was. That's the way life goes.
