Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Jul 11, 2010
I've seen many silly signs over the years, but the one that stays with me for some reason was a silhouette of a cow, the sort that's used to warn people that there might be cows on the road. Underneath this was another sign that said 'Soft Edges'. I've never previously wondered whether cows are soft or not.
There's also this, which I saw on the Kangaroo Island ferry a few years ago. The words are sane, but something strange happened with the formatting... http://public.fotki.com/Pseudo-Ivan/odds-and-ends/ferrynotice.html Maybe the signwriter was seasick.

Here's a whole collection of hilarious traffic signs. The text is in German, but most of the signs are pretty self-explanatory (they're from all over the world).

One of my all-time favourites is the warning sign (from Florida, I think) with a guy in a wheelchair on the top of a steep slope, and a huge gator cheerfully awaiting him at the bottom...

P.S. Each of the signs you see there stands for a whole collection, just click on "Mehr" (More)...

I saw one in Louisiana that said 'Do Not Feed the Alligators' then in small print below 'This means no swimming'

At the end of my street, there used to be a sign that said "No right turn." Then they made the street two-way, but instead of taking down the sign, they removed the word "No."

It's a nice enough sign, and they didn't entirely obliterate the "No," so it's obvious what was done, but you can lose time pondering whether it is now okay to turn left, if that's what you wanted to.

Sho - employed again! Posted Jul 11, 2010
when I was a kid I used to wonder what the sign-painting guy would do when everything had signs. He'd be unemployed and that worried me!

there is a boulevard in Lansing Michigan with sidewalks crossing a bridge on the right side only(left side car traffic only).
During bridge construction someone decided to close the sidewalk
So they used signs saying: Sidewalk Closed- use other side of street.
I mentioned to City council that this would mean pedestrians walking on the roadbed with cars. they took down the sign.

There's a movie with the title "Signs," but it's about crop circles. Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix ar4e in it.

I think the extraterrestrial in that movie was from Oz.

We got a package today that had the normal "fragile" warnings on it as well as a sticky label reading "Do Not Destroy"
