... that some of my fb friends who used to be supportive of Lord Dampnut have been very quiet lately.
I choose to see this as a positive sign.

I've been a bit less vocal on FB myself, but a like-minded friend chimed in regarding the violence in Charlottesville this weekend and plenty of Trumpeters responded with rather convoluted rationalizations for how the counter protesters (antifa) were responsible. Some just flatly refuse to believe the "main stream media" reports. Some just decry the erasing of their history and heritage. Most just commented on the moral equivalency of the white supremacists and the counter protesters, usually labeling them as Black Lives Matter, who they also consider to be racists.

This type of reaction is something the white supremacist organizers were hoping for. They wanted the counter protesters to react violently so they could reinforce that moral equivalency. They've been trolling liberals and progressives quite well recently with these rallies and speaking engagements in liberal strongholds like Berkeley. They wrap themselves in the Free Speech banner and revel in the often violent backlash they provoke. Unfortunately it is quite effective.
