God Jul, my friends ("Good Yule" if you have to translate...)
Milla, h2g2 Operations Started conversation Dec 25, 2007
So, here in Svithjod, the big day has come and gone, Christmas eve being "It".
I had my family over (Parents, bro and family) and we had the traditional ham, pickled herrings, three kinds of cabbage, Janssons "temptation", plus an additional veggie alternative (roots and stuff in the oven) for my reformed brother. My fridge runneth over with leftovers. I think I have to freeze some...
The children (including my dad ) watched the annual Disney cavalcade on telly (and us "adults" chatted in the kitchen), and then the were dealt out from under the . No doing it this year... But I don't think the children minded - it was them asking to have the gifts under the tree in the first place!
It was good. It was just like any other Cristmas, even though the X wasn't here. Strange how I don't miss him...
This morning, he came to pick up the children, and go to his parents. His new love (can you believe, they are already engaged! ) and her younger son was with them. The older brother (18 years) stays at home on his own for a few days. I did have a little lump in my throat, watching them drive off.
Tomorrow I'll
1) water my friends plants (she's in Poland with family)
2) bring to my parents, driving my aunt's 23 year old Audi
3) drop cat off, borrow dads newer little car
4) drive to friends in their summer house on Öland, and spend two days with them.
But today, I'll be here, online!
Have a lovely Christmas day, people!

sounds lovely, milla (well, most of it, anyway)
wish i could go to öland, but visiting old friends at the other end of my country will not be bad either, i'm sure
we had a nice traditional xmas eve here also. for the first time X and my kids and i were joined by youngest sons very sweet girlfriend. the poor thing had to go w*rk in a local disco at midnight , but i was tired at that point anyway so went to bed shortly after she had left.
have some nice holidays

All quite quiet here, both me and 11 are but we went for a Christmas dinner at my mother's place last night. Today we are just slowly dying. No X'es in sight, thanks bob.

I'm being madly online, playing... But I should get some lunch. Fridge needs emptying

Joyeuex Nöel und Good Will to all mânn et w¨mann.
French radio is heavily promoting Maalox right now, indigestion medicine. Thankfully, they haven't yet played Vanesa Paradis or James Blunt. Led Zep should be obligatory at YowlTide in my opinion!

God Jul, Milla.
It's the day to be quiet, play some games and browse through one's new books. .
I've taught my youngest daugther to knit, again. The oldest called me the other day for advice. It's quite difficult to instruct knitting over the phone. Funny how knitting is taken up again. Our library even has a knitting club. .
We've been eating roasted duck and lamb's leg for two days now. Vegetables seem tempting now.

ye gods, that must be the understatement of the year!
"take a , acquire a spinning wheel; now, find two long sticks & try this..;"
I was given a hand-knitted sweater by an Icelandic fiend in 1975; she sternly said "This will keep you warm for a lifetime so long as you DO NOT WASH IT!"
I haven't & she's right so far!

My grandpa had 2 , and they had the whitest softest fleece. He had them sheared, and mum hand carded, hand spun, made yarn and knitted a heavy sweater. Nothing beats it... And it's made by mum
I don't think I've washed mine either, come to think of it. It still smells a little of sheep...
