Anybody there for a NYC meeting in May?
Monsignore Pizzafunghi Bosselese Started conversation Apr 11, 2001
I'm going to stay on holidays in NYC from 13 May till 25 May. Is there any chance for a Real Life H2G2 Meeting anywhere around in this time (but not 15/16May)? Any volunteers to arrange things & such?
Bossel

I'm not volenteering to head this up but I'll help all I can.

I was afeared to put my name on this list for that reason, too!
I'm not enough of a City person to suggest venues for a get-together. But I'd very much like to get together! Personally, I'm going to a Mets game on Sat. May 19 (surprise, surprise!), but other than that I'm pretty much free.

I am up for anytime except during the week, my boss would be a little but off if I took time off to run to NY. But I don't mind driving out on a Friday after work.

My only problem is that I work nights 2-10pm-ish. If you all promised to still be there at around 11pm-ish I could join you on a Friday night!

Bossel - let me know when you have a date and I will put it up on this page!

Well ok, nobody else had suggestions regarding the time, so let's say
Friday, May 18, 8pm, at some convenient place.
I need help on the last item, because I don't know any places in NYC yet. Somewhere easy to reach, not too loud so we can chat, not too crowded because reservations will, in all likelihood, not be made in advance. If they serve some good then the better!

OK fowks, seeing this overwhelmingly huge enthusiasm around...
Suggestion:
Restaurant Alonso, 25th Street, between 1st/2nd Avenue;
on Friday, May 18, 9pm
full stop. And if this meeting is going to go into the Great History Of H2G2 Meetings as
"The First Ever H2G2 RL-Meeting Held in the USA Which Was Attended by Germans Only",
and held in German in full and deliberate violation of all the Beeb's regulations, then so be it!

And if this still shouldn't suffice... I'm going to hoist the German Carnival Flag w/Jester and Red Cardboard Nose if an unanimous decision is achieved upon this issue! The agenda will be handed out after the Chairman's opening remarks, and any obstentions are to be submitted immediately thereafter!

As long as there aren't any other proposals, it's place, and it's got a web site which isn't too difficult to guess
Another proposal: how about meeting on SUNDAY, at the Metropolitan Museum. How's that, everybody ?

I'll be there Sunday ... I can't make Friday.
BTW, I got your message, but was out doing the Mother's Day thing ... I'll call you Monday ... That's not your name, but what the heck ...

Oops, just repeated the mail, then logged into h2g2
Well, the European mobiles don't work, but my sister has an answering machine to her phone, so this shouldn't be a problem. And, since 15 minutes ago, even internet access is possible from here as well.

If I only could get used to this US kezboard, er, keyboard layout. None of the smiley keys is where I used to find them

Sorry I didn't get a chance to call you today.
I've had a very, very busy day at work, then the printer didn't work, and I've just finished printing out the train schedules. Then I thought it would be too late to call you, because you're not really on NY time! Then you pop on here!
What's a good time for you for Sunday?

Going eastbound over the Atlantic isn't too much of a problem, just stay awake for a bit longer, the going to bed and .. that's it. I think I'm already on local time. Going back to Germany will be a different story.
As for Sunday, how about 11am? The Museum opens at 9:30, but I think you'll need some time to get there

Would you mind more around 12?
It's just that I'd have to leave at 8:30 in the morning to get there for 11am. The trains only arrive at Penn on the :06 every hour from my stop (Ronkonkoma).
