This is something I've had on my 'To Do' list for a couple of years. I found it in the Flea Market (though it has since been removed). I didn't credit the original author because I didn't really use any of his work, and he's been gone for nearly 3 years.
If your interested, the original was A719732.
I've tried to incorporate most of the information from the original PR thread. Let me know where it's still lacking.

Under Amenities, you missed a comma in the last sentence.
I don't know- is there anything else that makes Festus special? A restaurant? A lack of fast food joints?

Thanks!
I'm not sure about other special attractions. It's been about fifteen years since I've done more than just drive past. Could be worth a drive one weekend, though it's probably not - it's half an hour south of St Louis and I'm about an hour west. Not that I'm opposed to the drive, but with gas as high as it is, unless I have another reason for going I probably won't.
If I go down to the flea market in the spring I may cruise around for a lunch spot, if this is still in PR I'll add anything I come up with.

Hello broelan
I enjoyed this one Can you give us an idea of what there is to do in Festus? Cinema? Theatre? Restaurants? Bars?
Are there any notable residents or ex-residents? Has anything significant happened there?
Oh, and I wonder why it's there? What's the history of the town?
So many questions

Thanks, Frenchbean!
The only thing to do in Festus is go to St Louis (which I think was partially the point of the entry I found in the Flea Market). Like I said, if I make a trip to the neighbouring flea market in the spring I'll cruise through and see what's there, but I don't expect it will be anything out of the ordinary.
No notables, nothing of significance, I would imagine it was a little farming community that decided to form a city charter so they could use tax revenue to be more self-sufficient and less dependent on the county. I didn't find much on the history of the location, only on the name (which, quite frankly, surprised me).
If I discover anything more exciting I'll certainly include it

I agree with everyone, it seems - it's good, but it does lack that little bit of local colour... maybe if the Scouts could hold off picking it until broe's got time to drive over there and take a quick look at the place?

Shall I take it out of PR for the time being? It will be a few months before I have might have opportunity to go sight-seeing.

I'd have to agree that it really needs something to give it some zip.
Otherwise, what's the point?

I didn't think to post here, but since I know some of you are still around I thought I'd mention I've reworked this again and popped it back into Peer Review.
I don't expect anyone remembers how ferociously bland the first effort was, hopefully this is somewhat of an improvement.
