I think there should be a hit counter on each entry that is written, It's be very useful for researchers to know which types of their own article are most popular so that they can write on more of a supply-demand basis if they wish to.
apologies if this has been said before, I couldn't find it anywhere, but it seems like quite an obvious one.

Traveller in Time after searching the < <./>Development-Features#otherfeatures</.> > page extensively
"Very close near the bottom you will find a similar idea.
It does come up once every so often, so thanks for the idea anyway.
A reason why it is not implemented is that some people , would start playing with it, effectively making it a nonsense figure.
Another reason is, it would create load on the servers. Taken into concideration the numbers also would be poluted by your own visits, and therefore not be of much value.

Also, (*I think*)as a rule, the Beeb doesn't like to publicise how popular (or unpopular) it's sites are.

Traveller in Time counting visitors
"With this afternoon a peek of 243 accounts online and every researcher reading a hundred pages the daily average visitor per entry would be one tenth.
There are some 300.000 entries to read, more then 6.000.000 postings on nearly 2.000.000 Forums. I guess the counts would be low indeed. "

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
