He vetoed the bill.
It was the first time a ferret legalization effort has made it far enough to matter. It made it through the assembly and the senate. It made it to his desk, and he had said he would support it. He told us he loved ferrets, and we supported his run for governor.
He vetoed it.
That dirty How dare he sell us out?!

I'm so sorry to hear that, sea. It's been too long since I've seen a good ferret in public. Maybe I'll have to wait longer.
Though admittedly, California ferret laws have little effect on ferret laws in my state....

*arches eyebrow*
You don't often see ferrets in public? They don't sell them in pet stores where you live? Odd.
Hey, affy! Are you on the facebook yet? I am! And you can see a picture of one of my ferrets if you add me as a friend!
Well, it was worth a try!
Yep. Time to start writing letters.

Coincidentally I ran into this site when looking at things in my old home town. I particularly like the sound:

Nice link.
I don't know if they do or do not sell ferrets in pet stores around here, as I rarely go into pet stores. There was a class-owned ferret in my preschool class, but after that I've only seen a ferret on a few very rare occasions.
And i'll repeat GL's query: Facebook?

What?! You're a college student and you haven't heard of the Facebook?
It's kind of like friendster, but only for college students/alumni/teachers/etc. You have to have the program set up at your school to be eligible. I don't know quite how it works, but it's kind of fun.

The Governator says, "The politicians have had their chance and they have failed the people."
Gee. Sounds familiar, you
"My administration is not about politics..." Yeah right.

does not the constitution of California give you option of having a referendum on the issue
(thus taking it out of the hands of your state parliamentary system)

Doesn't look like my school supports facebook, sea.
However, this leads to another question.
Friendster?

I'd never heard of either, either. (I like that sentence!)

Sea, if you've not narrowed me down to a hundred-mile diameter location and figured out what my name is, then there's no way you can give info to GL yet. He's been on top of things this year.

Hundred mile diameter? I know exactly where you are. Er, when you are at school, that is.
