Well, after getting an offer to get a 2-year-subscription for a substinally lower price than two 1-year-subscriptions, I signed up for the most expensive version.
And I'm happy so far, and feel secure.
Just now, I'm trying out their PC Tuneup thingie ('once for free') and, as I pretty much expected, there are lots of found errors; registry and what nots.
Almost 2 hours now, and it still hasn't finished 'fixing the problems'.
And yes, I should do cleanup and defrag more often (if that's what they're called in English, my current Windows version is in Swedish, and I haven't bothered changing it).

Based on lifehacker.com's writings, I am actually (on the Windows machines here) using Microsoft Security Essentials. Free, and from the reviews I read at the time, efficient. Certainly not a ressource hog as I've tried it before with others...
My router's firewall isn't too shabby either - everything is either closed or stealthy, that is not responding to any requests from the outside at all
(this was written from the home iMac - where I run Sophos)

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
