I've been using a bulky old Nokia 6150 for eight years (and I inherited it) but the battery time has started getting shorter and shorter.
And today, my boss said 'Isn't it about time you got a new one? Make sure to get one with radio so that you have something to listen to while travelling to/from w*rk' (my employer pays for the phone and the subscription and I'm allowed to make private calls for up to 500 SEK per month).
There were five models to choose between, and I picked the second cheapest. I'm still pretty impressed by it:

And I just got an e-mail telling me it will be delivered tomorrow! Time to retire my old Palm Vx and Ipod Mini.

Nice
I probably have to convince either our bureacracy or our phone supplier (or both) to renew mine - the on/off switch is rather dodgy amd getting worse. And the phone is not much more than a year old
I know what I'd like (it's a work phone that I can also use privately) - but as far as I know, we have exactly one phone to choose from:

whereas I'd like the N97.
(one major need is the ability to hook up to our Notes Email system and Nokia has that)

Our purchasing department is always on the alert. The moment a contract is signed, they make sure to cancel it within a year or, in some cases (depending on the contract) within two years.
After that, they ask for new offers from all the major suppliers.
That's why we've had different mobile operators through the years. Currently Telenor, before that Europolitan, and before that I don't remember the names of the companies.
And during all these years, my mobile phone number has stayed the same (that's an absolute condition that can't be negotiated away no matter how low the offer is).
The girls in the purchasing department have quite shocking stories to share about male sales persons thinking 'ah, a female purchaser, I'll be able to sell my company's services easily, I'll just dazzle her with loads of technical details'.
Not.
They are both quite experienced and hard as granite when it comes to dealing.
They can be a bit cruel though - their usual tactics is to initially listen and smile and nod and, once the sales person has finished talking, crushing all their arguments into very small pieces and asking lots of questions focused on details that sometimes the sales person doesn't know the answers to.
But they're both quite lovely persons when you're not trying to con them

I have a similar perk and a similar phone, albeit a slightly older version. It is great. I bought extra 1 GB chips and can now listen to both radio and my own music for hours

I still haven't figured out my old phone. The new ones terrify me. I would like one that has a keyboard ap. I'm terrible at texting with the number pad.

That makes me feel slightly better, Pierce. Seriously, when they get a phone that will bring in the morning paper and make the coffee, then I'll buy it. I have no use for 95% of the fancy stuff they do.

Woot - I can take photos with my new phone and publish them on my already existing blogger page (blogger kindly allowed me the option of choosing how to publish them). Here's the first picture, just an experimental one:

New photo added to my blog today - being able to both take a photo *and* send it to the blog with my new mobile makes it a whole lot easier to update it:

It's almost disappointing. I thought your old phone is the one that's going to last forever and you'd be so cool with it in 10 years time. Museum thing or so.

What can I say about mobile phones of today! Yeah great MP3,camera,radio, Qwerty keyboard just about everything+4GB memory card! But they just don't last, the one I have now LG ks360 as been in for repair only a year old, I bought the next model up LG GW520 full touch+Qwerty keyboard need GSEs to work it, but still using NOW on h2g2 LG ks360 sure does drain your battery down been on the web. They don't make em to last do they?My first phone was a house brick Motarola
