I had taken Friday off from work so that I'd get a chance of doing some shopping - and arrived on what has been reported as *the* hottest day in May *ever* in London!
After a couple of hours, I gave up and retreated to the air-conditioned hotel loaded with mineral water, white wine and snacks. I spent the night with either listening to the air conditioning making weird noises or - after turning it off - sweating in my bed.
Saturday - yay! I knew Hyp was coming, and I suspected Teuchter might be accompaning(sp?) her - but before they arrived, Sol unexpectedly walked up to me outside of the Covent Garden tube station - and then David the singing librarian joined as too after having overheard us talking about Hyp.
And then Amy the showed up too! We had some coffee and pootled around Covent Garden and listened to a string... trio? Quartet? before leaving for Hyde Park.
Bald Bloke, Agapanthus, Scrumph and Reefgirl joined us there, and we all settled down for a picknick.
After that, a visit to the Science Museum to see the h2g2 exhibition (lacking of imagination I thought - there ought to have been alarms going off, flashing lights and a booming voice saying 'do not touch that button again!' when Bald Bloke pressed down the big button labelled 'do not press this button')
And then we watched *the* film at the museum! It won't be shown in Sweden until mid July, so I'm quite happy to have seen it already!
After that, a visit to a pub (of course) - a pub that was considered being a possible target for the next big London meeetup.
Rounding up the evening nicely(?) with a very spirited journey across London with to pick up the 'citronpeppar'. I actually feel quite proud for having noticed an alternative way to get to my hotel when we found that the courtesy bus left without us because all the seats had been taken...

Oooh... and there actually *is* a place named Webb City - Hyp had brought evidence of that, bless her! Meeting Hypatia was - of course - the main reason for me going to London at this time!

meeting.
film. Even
pub.
But resume
And good to know that at least two were froody enough to bring their towels.
The other day, I gave up rather quickly explaining a non-disciple why I would bring a towel to a film showing sometime in mid August (where they finally get their act together and releases it here... )

Amy the 's reaction when she saw all the citronpeppar (6 jars à 450 gr each!) was 'how did you get it through customs?'
Customs? What customs?
As I told her and the others, I've only had my bag checked once in all my life...
It was in February or March 1983, in London. We visited the National Portrait Gallery, where someone had recently attacked the painting of Charles and Diana and made a long cut with a knife, so the guards were checking everyone's bags - even mine! (Wow! They're going to check *me*?)
The guard didn't search my bag very thoroughly though - it was a weekend bag and my night gown was lying on top. Had I known that the bag would be checked I might have packed it at the bottom instead - or maybe not...
Even when visiting a drug-free disco as a teenager the guards just waved me past but body-searched my two friends who looked just as harmless as I did (in my opinion)!

A photo from the meet-Hyp-meet at the Science Museum:

Typically enough, trying to squeeze in as many Salonistas as possible, I missed out Hyp - that's her blouse to the left with the blue and yellow flowers.

clockwise - Hyp's arm; Bald Bloke; Amy; Solnushka; David; Teuchter; Reefgirl. At least I think it's David. I can't make see his face.

I'm not sure that *is* David - I think it might be a complete stranger.
Notice the grin on BB's face - the moment after I had taken that photo he stretched forward and pressed the 'Do Not Touch' button. Nothing happened! There ought to have been alarms going off, lights flashing and a booming voice in a loudspeaker.
That's one thing I was a bit disappointed about when it comes to the exhibition - it lacked somewhat of creative imagination...

I think you may be right. Imagine the nerve of a stranger in a meet photo. Sheesh! The man in the photo may be taller than David. And the shirt didn't look right, for some reason. And I can't remember when David left us. Before the museum, wasn't it? Nope, not David.

I've finally come to look at Titania's photo, and can definitely confirm that random tall man is definitely not me. I had to zoom back to Canterbury for a rehearsal in the evening, so missed museum and film. I am shorter, chubbier and more librariany than that guy. I can't remember what I wore, though.

That may be, but where were you on the night of March 14, 1988 at one o'clock in the morning while the crime was being committed?
