A Conversation for Heavy Metal

PINK FLOYD???

Pink Floyd as Metal? God no, never... psychedelic, sure - but metal?

Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep??? All formed and took off in the late 60s.

And you left out all the 80s "hair metal" scene that really sounded the death of Metal in the US. All the big 80s American "Def Leppard copycat" bands like Motley Crue, Poison, Queensryche, Warrant, Winger... sure, it was never that big in Britain (Metal never has been) but it was massive everywhere else.

Critisize all you want. I notice you never turned up to lend a hand while I was writing it.

As for the Pink Flloyd mentions...guh, this is embarrasing. I have explained to everyone. I can't think why I mentioned them. They're simply not metal. Crap if anything, but not metal. Why I mentioned them, I have no clue. Not as if they inspired these bands or anything.

So, I apologise for mentioning those dicrepid dinosaurs, ok?

Hey, no problem. No two people will agree about what's metal and what isn't. And I'm not so much of a fanatic as to really care. smiley - smiley

Well, I am a fanatic and I do care. And in my eyes, and in the eyes of everyone I know irl, this is a mistake to be ashamed of! So sooner it's corrected, the sooner I can die honourably.

To say Floyd have no influence on metal is a mistake. The article mentions Marilyn Manson among the new metal bands. Manson are certainly influence by Floyd, and have admitted as much. While I wouldn't consider Floyd metal by any means (nor crap, I think they were great), they have had influence upon bands who also have metal influences.
