Finally got around to reading the whole thing. Nice work. Had a few minor things.
Under copying and pasting:
I think the word 'loose' should probably be 'lose'
Under Links:
It states:
'You will find in the world of on-line that the general method for moving around the internet are links.'
Sentence structure is problematic. (maybe use 'general method for moving around the internet is through the use of links')
Registering
'simply input your email account' should probably be 'email address'
Under Homepage: Search:
you might want to add 'or click on search without putting anything in the field to get to the Power Search page.'
My Preferences:
'To get back to your homepage from here you need to click the 'Back' button on your browser.'
Actually probably better just to click on 'My Space'
Creating your own home page;
Preview:
I would strengthen that somewhere to recommend very highly that you always hit preview before updating your homepage (particularly if you're using GuideML or HTML).
Plain Text/GuideML/HTML:
It says:
'Obviously, if you have had experience with HTML then that is your best bet. GuideML is only recommended to those who have a good knowledge HTML or XL.'
I have a little bit of a problem with that statement. I would recommend that those with experience with html use either, but consider checking out GuideML, since it's easier to learn than html, and since future support of all html functions is uncertain.

Sorry it has taken so long to reply Redbeard...
Literally several billions things to do...
You obviously have taken considerable time to help...
Which I thankyou for...
The main aim is to make it a concise as possible and hopefully easier enough to understand, and your suggestions have helped greatly...
Hopefully, I'll get around to doing an update soon...
The one thing I would quibble with however is the GuideML...
Although, I will certainly point out the sites policy I find that holding the party line on the use GuideML as not generally in the best interests of the new user. The site is very unlikely to stop supporting the standard way of representing mark-up text online, and even if they did get rid of it down the track the user wouldn't lose given its a highly valued skill in most workplaces...
As my purpose in setting up this page was helping the new user per say, not simply reinterate the wishes of the editorship...
Thanks
- Simply, High Spirited.

As a new user who has tried the links , I can report the following links that don't work.
3.Registering
The link to registration http://www.h2g2.com.register does not work.
There is now a register button at the top of the page which shows the correct link to be http://www.h2g2.com/register
4. My Home Page
The link to Instruction for using GuideML http://www.h2g2.com/A155761 does not work. h2g2 has a very handy "here are some possible entries it could be" function , which showed the correct link to be http://www.h2g2.com/A155701
10. Other handy links
The link to The h2g2 post http://www.h2g2.com/A54963 does not work. The handy h2g2 function does not find the correct entry in this case. It is however also on Redbeard's quick reference page and the correct link is http://www.h2g2.com/U54963
If you put those errors in on purpose to get new user's used to following links that don't work , please ignore the above.

Thankyou very much for your observations...
I have just updated the page so it was most helpful...
Also, thanks to Redbeard for his efforts above, but also his work on updating his index page, which saved an awful lot of time...

Hi, I spent Saturday creating a "Keepers" section, very informal titles for Researchers to choose. The link is:- http://www.h2g2.com/A441596
And I am pleased to say that several people have already claimed their "Keeper" title

Greetings,
The updates are good - it makes a friendly, welcoming page for newbies.
Please would you consider adding a link to my Lost Poetry Office at A433793? The home page text explains its purpose, from which you could "lift" a couple of lines as an intro. Alternatively, I'd be happy to supply some text.
Thank you
