Ian became a great-granddad this week, on 2 Oct. Layla-Mai was 7lb 9ozs! I refrained from announcing this earlier, until I had a photo (the new family is in Rotherham). They're visiting next Saturday and we're all going to The Old Library where Ian's Mum (99 this month) lives. Here's the 5th-generation baby: http://picasaweb.google.com/109163337517290185142/October2013#5931690377162095666
As I'm Ian's partner, this makes me a step-great-grandma.
Welcome to this weird and wonderful world, Layla-MaiI can't wait for a

It was my fault in the first place, I had created a new album but forgot to change the settings from "only me" to "public"
and thanks, I'm looking forward to meeting her in the flesh on Saturday and will be adding more photos to that album, of the 5 generations

It's Layla-Mai's Christening today, in Rotherham. I'm driving, Ian's navigating and the roads are frosty! (I better not mention the dreadful night-without-sleep I just had thanks to my neighbours rowing)

Give yourself plenty of time to get there, and take plenty of rest stops if you have to
There is no hurry to get back, so don't go rushing anywhere.
Have a lovely day GB

It's a big bugbear to me too. The doo was in a pub, and as soon as we arrived when the barmaid came over to us, Ian asked for a pint of bitter and I said can I have a cup of tea? She said they didn't provide hot drinksso I had an orange J2O. We found a table with Ian's daughter Caroline, son-in-law Andy, granddaughter Loren and her boyfriend Danny. Later on I saw the baby's Daddy (James, Ian's grandson) with a mug and I asked him, where'd you get that coffee? He said (the other grandma) Danielle's mother who lives across the road had been across, put the kettle on and made coffees for a few people. I always thought Yorkshire people were friendly, warm and welcoming, but she never came to speak to us, even Caroline, the other grandma. That would have been an icebreaker for me - the pub was pretty cold due to a boarded-up broken window right above where we were sitting. This was where we ended up right after leaving the church, whose pews were covered in shattered glass from some vandalism "since Christmas" - you'd think we'd have been warned *before* we sat down? And knowing they had 2 Christenings that day, surely that was a good excuse to hire a cleaner I was sensible, fully clothed () but Caroline sat next to me had a short dress on, no tights, and most of the young ladies were similarly dressed. I had debated wearing a hat but dismissed the idea for a fascinator which matched my outfit. I was the only one wearing headgear. Some lads even turned up in jeans. One lad I noticed at the doo was wearing his pants so low that when he sat down I got a good flash of his underwear and bum cleavage which I didn't appreciate When Caroline & I popped to the loo she complimented me on my fascinator (stop giggling at the back, I've heard that joke before) and I said I'd almost worn a hat, but I'm glad I hadn't as I would have been out of place.
