h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Going by my previous journal, the only dates we can all make are:

6/7 July

20/21 July

27/28 July

Please state your preferences below, if all are good dates just say "I'm easy"

I'm easy. If I'm supposed to be bouncing grandchildren in July, they can work round you rather than vice versa.

colour me easy as well, but I prefer the 6/7 and 20/21 to 27/28

I think I won't be able to afford to come after all. So carry on without me. But if I suddenly get some cash, I may change my mind.

My only possibility would be 6/7

If I can afford it, after the Rheims meet and my August holiday, I'll be there.

Travel up Friday p.m., and return Sunday.

Need to sort train and hotel prices.

You won't find a station closer to the centre of anywhere else MMF.

My plan is (at Hubbies suggestion) he will drive me to Cleethorpes on Sat am; stock the cool boxes with fish, shellfish and crabs etc. drive home and pig out, then fetch me back again at close of play Sunday.

Can we have a paddle GB?

So no train to Cleethorpes that weekend.

So train to Doncaster, then train from Doncaster to Sunny (?) Scunthorpe, then to Cleethorpes. Three and Half hour journey.

And no affordable hotels available in Cleethorpes.



Looking doubtful now.

Oh dear, when I had time I was going to check out the B&B prices. I had no idea there were no trains to Cleethorpesunless it's that landslide near Scunny causing the problem, I thought the Peterborough route was OK though

Don't lose hope, I'll do some investigating, must dash, Mum's shopping to do today

If I can make it, I would need to be able to catch a train from Leeds to Cleethorpes. Let us know what they're up to with the railways!

A shame. I did check a couple of sites and the hotels are fully booked. Nearest is Grimsby.

Will check the Peterborough route to see if doable. Thanks for the tip.

I'm still hoping I get the money I was promised and will be able to afford to come.

I've just realised that the 6th July is the week after half term ends, so as it isn't a school holiday, I'm afraid I won't be able to come. But have fun!

I've not had time to do anything

Please don't anyone book planes, trains, rooms, etc. While I'm caring for my mother full time I may not even be available that weekend myself.

Don't get stresses about it GB! Wonderful if it can happen - another time if it can't. Your RL priorities are obviously massively more important at this stage.
