...has begun. This is my old bedroom, which had patio doors put in place of the old window/radiator, so there's no heat in there. I've started wallpaper stripping but the promised help hasn't materialised, so I'm having to pace myself. Not looking forward to dismantling/rebuilding the wardrobe, I need it in my new bedroom, as all my clothes are on a temporary double rail, covered by a spare curtain.

is the view over the garden, when it used to be my bedroom. It's totally overlooked, and sheltered from streetlights too. I can step out on a clear night and view the arm of the Milky Way.

Sounds like a very good view at night GB and a good project.
I'm redecorating my bedroom at the moment, going from dark pink to a lovely bright yellow, but there isn't enough space to move everything out, paint, then move back in. So I've done 1 & a bit walls, with everything crushed at one end of the room and now I'm putting it all back so I can move everything off the next wall to paint it. 27 years of stuff crammed in a 12ft x 10ft box is making it interesting to get to my bed at night without falling over. Lucky I like the smell of paint and it's been warm enough to keep the window open.
Good luck with the decorating, and enjoy your new dining room and bedroom
Oh! And keep your lovely cat away from any paint trays. We've had paw prints through the house on more than one occasion! No cats this time, so only have to keep myself from trailing paint through the house

hello Em! Good to hear from you!
I've now finished all the scraping. Wardrobe is proving a bitch though. I've removed the doors, the drawers, the skeleton frame which held the drawers...and ground to a halt.
Goldie is not allowed near any paint,

It's freestanding Milla - it matches all my other bedroom furniture which I've managed to instal in my new bedroom.

I don't like reconstructing wardrobes...last time I moved mine I broke a leg off it Bodes well for the shelves I'm moving doesn't it?
GB I've stalled with mind too slightly, it still looks like a Rhubarb and Custard sweetie and I'm working this week so there'll be even less time for decorating
How's the decorating going? x

Still attempting to move said wardrobe, but the scraping is all done.
Gordon came round this afternoon to "help" but only succeeded in smashing it. Then he offered me the use of a rail for my clothes instead of bothering to rebuild it
I am going to try to put it back together, because my clothes have been on a rail for the last 6 months

Men! Honestly Hope you get sorted, things like that are most frustrating when you are on your own. I have three strapping blokes at my disposal but they are nevr around when you need them.

Hope it wasn't damaged!
I prefer doing things like that on my own - for a start there's only one person to get angry at if it goes wrong - but mostly because if dad, for example, helps, it ends up with him taking control and something going wrong because he takes no notice of my plan
Easier just to tell him to off and leave me to it

I think it will sound familiar to a lot of people
What I find funny about that particular situation is I'm the one in my family that he always gets to help him out with DIY. Mostly because he knows I could do it myself and also because I know which screwdriver to hand him at the right moment. My mum and sister always pick the wrong one...I think it's so they don't have to help.

It's still not completely rebuilt, I have had to clean up the mess off my bedroom carpet (kitty paws and my to take care of in that room) then give the whole wardrobe shell a good clean before starting to rebuild the inner parts. I got as far as the doors before I had to call it a day, exhausted, but it was a damned good day.
So no, my clothes are still on the rails, and if I find that French maid's outfit Pierce you'll be the first to know

The doors are on, but they don't line up
I will have to get a professional opinion before I take them off again though.

The hinges are probably of the adjustable type. Just needs a screwdriver.

This was attempted this afternoon, after lunch. One door was lowered and the other lifted. Still, it was the Leaning Wardrobe of Cleethorpes.
I have now wedged some cardboard under the back right corner of the wardrobe and that appears to have balanced things up. I'm just bracing myself before putting my clothes back in. I have a horror it's all going to collapse!
