I was never an Elvis fan - in fact I was quite against him whilst at school, but I`m sitting riveted to a programme now - after a rockumentary on the origins of rock and roll, they are showing the whole of his comeback concert in 1968. Apart from the quality of sound and picture being really good, it's a rip roaring jolly good concert.

The comeback concert in 1968 often gets recycled on our digital channels, smiley - magic

He comes over really human in that, laughing at himself and jamming with the guys and looks really good (all in black leather) Why haven't I seen that before? Obviously it was a good time for him, just out of the Army, but not yet spoiled by drugs and stuff.

It was probably televised in the UK, but I wasn't allowed to watch it. I may well have spent the rest of my life saving up to go to Memphis if I'd seen that when I was 14!

I recall the audience was specially-picked, from band members' families, etc. I doubt he'd have emerged unscathed if it had been an ad-hoc concertsmiley - drool

Oh yes - the audience! There were girls sitting actually on the stage (in their cardigans and those sleeveless shifts we used to wear) and they were smiling, but not looking more than "interested". He was rocking his out and they sat there like statues!
