Self abuse at Wimbledon
Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor Started conversation Jul 3, 2007
I just watched the BBC2 Today at Wimbledon hour and there wasn't enough tennis to show so the presenter John Inverdale was chatting with Martina Navratilova and Boris Becker. Martina was talking about how funny she thought it was that one of the women players had deliberately hit her own thigh with her racket in anger and later had to put an icepack on it. There then followed a conversation about being penalised for abuse of equipment, and Martina said the player hadn't abused the racket but her own leg. John then said "Self abuse on court, let's not go there" and even Boris looked embarrassed.

Well, you've got to do *something* in all those long periods off court whilst you're waiting around in the dressing room!
Tennis players have notoriously powerful wrists, don't they?

I view some of Lleyton Hewitts antics on court as a form of Self Abuse, and he is one of us.
BTW Reddyfreddy, sorry about not meeting up with you. I came down with a shocking case of tonsilitis and was out on my feet for that week, getting daily injections of antibiotics....
