I didn't much like the movie, a lot of the funny parts were omitted and it didn't really go with the book. For one Zaphod had 2 heads yes but one was underneath the other as opposed to next to eachother like they were supposed to be, I don't want to screw up seeing the movie for others since it hasnt been out that long but i thought it could have fallowed the book much better than it did

Back in 1984 I watched the tv series for the first time; in 1991 I read the entire trilogy with a smile on my face remembering how I loved the tv series; I discovered the radio programs over a year ago and was delighted to hear new radio shows streaming from the BBC. I was so looking forward to this movie only to have my hopes violated by this wretched piece of fluff that bears so little resemblance to its parent. Arthur is portrayed as an awkward, love-sick coward unable to cope rather than straightman for most of the jokes. The stereotypical brit with a "stiff-upper-lip" attitude (considering his planet is no more and he is the last man in existance) was perfect then, as it would be now. The book, which was practically a seperate character in the radio and tv series, becomes an annoying voice-over during numerous action sequences. They only just touch on a few references to the original story to remind you that this is the Hitchhiker's Guide universe. I kept asking myself through the middle of the movie, "When are they going to Milliway's?" I knew they couldn't fit the whole story into one movie, but there was no reason for there to be a love interest for Arthur with Trillian. And this new character starring John Malkovich completeing derailed the storyline. The whole thing is a trainwreck. One would think that the filmmakers would realize this story would be scrutinized very carefully by fans, and that they shouldn't disappoint. Look what was done with LOTR, that was brilliant. I expected much more story and less fluff.

I enjoyed the bbc series even though the actually story wasn't there so much, just events, but hey at least he had two heads in it. If they could do two heads in the 80s why do we have to do with out one now in 2005? Oh well, I grant you the extra head was sucky but at least it was there and it was funny and I loved the extra arm, when he was like, "Hi. Glad you could drop in." or whatever, the little wave thing with the three hands was adorable.
