A Conversation for 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' - the TV Series

Sorry to be a pain but....
You spelled Kristy Swanson's name wrong.
Is it a good idea to write an article which will be here for ages using current references such as "Riley....Buffy's new boyfriend".? If this turns out to be a good idea please get it right - Giles is no longer Buffy's watcher and hasn't been for some time now.
The Slayer Speak section needs work - a better idea would have been a reference to the BBC Buffy site which does a good job of this.

Since when is Giles no longer Buffy's watcher? Last episode I saw (last week) he was her watcher. Of course, this was on BBC, and if you're speaking American episodes, you have just told us what will happen.

Exactly my point. You have still to see this happen on BBC (coming in the next few weeks by the way), but the author of the article saw fit to tell you stuff about Series 4 when you are only a few weeks into Series 3 - if the author were on a Buffy newsgroup they would have been "flamed" to death. That's why I asked if it was a good idea to write an article in this way; it was not my intention to spoil anything for you but if you are annoyed please direct your annoyance to the author of the article who has included an even bigger spoiler.
To The Author:
By the way, on reading my initial post again the tone of it was a little off. I appreciate people going to the effort of putting something together like this but my advice is just to be wary as you can't always please everyone - either nit-pickers like myself or people without satellite dishes like "Lost in Scotland" here.
If the impact of your "spoilers" and my inadvertent blurting is still not clear then I would direct you to one of the buffy newsgroups where i'm sure they could explain it better than myself, and certainly with more colourful language.

In the US, Giles is no longer Buffy's Watcher. The council has decided not to employ him in the future. Buffy still visits his house and seeks guidance, but he is not responsible for her.
Buffy is now attending college, along with Willow and Riley. Xander and Anya are not attending college, but they still help with the demon business.
The high school was significantly damaged in last year's season finale and has not been reopened.
Oz is no longer Willow's boyfriend. In fact, he was gone most of the last season and we don't know whether he will return for any future episodes. Willow now has a girlfriend named Tara, who is also a witch. She is attending college also.
Spike has been de-fanged. The Scooby gang housed him for a while, and he now enjoys a sort of love-hate relationship with the good guys. He's certainly not the villain he once was. And Drusilla is toast.
Angel now has his own television show. Cordelia and Wesley (another former Watcher) have joined him in Los Angeles. A good half-demon, Doyle, was briefly part of the show but the actor left and the character went with him.

Oh please: Do you know I must have improved that entry about 5 times before it got approved??? I only have to rely on the BBC, this is my first ever approved guide entry, so be kind! I only found out this stuff shortly after the entry disappeared and it was too late to edit it. I worked very hard thankyou very much!
I am a huge Buffy fan so don't think I don't know anything. Let's just say when I wrote that entry Giles was Buffy's watcher.
How can Spike be de-fanged?? He's ultra cool, he has to stay bad and vampire

Not so much "de-fanged" as "chipped" I don't want to say any more - it'll spoil it for you...

I'm sorry to make it difficult for you on your first approved entry. I'm still fairly new to H2G2, and haven't had one approved yet myself.
To make this all harder, it takes quite a while to approve entries. This must make things very difficult when describing a TV show with frequent plot changes.
I guess I wouldn't have bothered with the nitpicking if the character listings had been consistent for one particular point in time. For instance, Riley shouldn't be mentioned if Giles is still portrayed as a Watcher and Oz is still considered to be Willow's boyfriend.
I don't want to spoil the Spike business either. I will say, though, that I have found him just as enjoyable if not moreso since the change. That's just my opinion, of course.

Speaking as someone whose parents actually named her Buffy, (a good 17 years before the movie came out) I just have to say:
De-animation Engineer for the Differently Deceased is the preferred term.
Or prehaps Post-mortality Adjustment Facilitator.

It's funny because a lot of people had never heard of the name Buffy until the movie came out. I had heard of it though becuase I collected Puppy in my pocket and one of them was called Buffy!

Before the movie I always used to get "Buffy? I had a cat named Buffy!" I have to say, I much prefer being linked with the Vampire Slayer.

A new update to an excellent line of conversation.
I an a Buffy fanatic.
My wife mocked me at first, of course now she is also among the converted.
I am new to h2g2, but I to was moderately distressed by the entry.
It IS very hard writing a review of a TV series in the midst of a run, an I can appreciate that, however the style of the show has been very consistent throughout its run. The style is a great part of the show's appeal. Deceivingly clever conversation, well done action sequences (especially for television), and as the BBC fans will see some periodic format changes that are often very effective.
Also, for BBC fans just getting to see Angel: the music in the opening credits is fantastic, does anyone know how to get a copy on CD?
Key: Complain about this post
