despite the scary description,
if a keen observer can grab a seat close to the exits on one of the buses (# 85 for eg) that go from suburban bombay to the office district -nariman point/churchgate, buses r the cheapest way to observe the broad spectrum of the city's personalities.
a busride at around 10 am will cost u less than Rs 10 and in the span of 2 hours u will soak in the city's sights, smells and sounds.
cheap and insightful.
if u r american/british be prepared to be amused when the bus gets to the college areas in southern bombay where the westernised bombay students in the bus perk up and display their hip factor.
