Well guys, I'm off to San Beta (Italy) for a couple of weeks. Not for meetings (school trip) this time but to get away from governmental duties (website designing). I think I deserve a holiday (holiday).
My CompliGram won't be coming to say hi as he's taking a trip as well (doesn't exist).
Well, toodlepip, all!

Chris, give my regards to the Pope. Tell him I need some new rosary beads. I lost my old ones in a card game.

With so many intelligent people here, would anyone have a clever suggestion how to avoid having an entry moderated and hidden every time I change it, because of a poem in it - and that's a poem that got clarified in March this year (that was the first time)!
It seems that every time I do something in this entry - whatever I change - a Moderator is alerted and checks it but, since the Moderators obviously can't see WHAT I changed, the entry is hidden every time as if it were a brand new entry...

simulpost!
T, maybe you could take the poem out for now, and put it in for the final revision. that would help with the moderation... then you'd only have to clarify it once more.

Enjoy Italy, Prof! (Although I know that you're already gone and won't see this till you get back... )
T, I have no idea how to go about that. Unless you can just have Peta be on the look-out for it. It is a shame that it keeps getting hidden though. Perhaps you could have a sign printed out and hung above each of the moderators' desks. "This entry: #Axxxxxx is ok to hae the poem in it. Please don't hid it!" You never know, it might work.

one of the entries i recently subbed had a HUGE red note to the moderators on the top, because most of it was in german and they kept hiding it. maybe the same might work for you...

Thanks sea, but the entry is not intended to be edited...
I was thinking of starting a conversation at the entry where I could post URLs to the conversations where the Italics have told me that it's OK to use the poem - but what should I use as Subject in order to attract the attention of a passing Moderator?

"Hello, Moderator"?
Seriously though, I don't know that there's anything else that would work any better...

Thanks for the suggestions...
I think I'll wait until the entry gets re-instated, though...

Very! We've cooled down to about 23C here, and from what I can tell the cooler weather is moving eastward. Whoever it was - GL maybe? - should be getting it soon.

Titania, here in lovely coastal New Jersey, it is currently 100F (38C) and the electric company has instituted 1 hour long rolling blackouts to take the burden off the power grid. So after my power came back on, the cable modem was out for another 30 minutes. I spent some serious time thumb twiddling in the heat.
But on another note... do any of you know if it is possible to mail merge picture files into a set of documents. I'm trying to make picture name tags for the staff at my daughter's school. Getting the text in is no problem, but I can't figure out a way to get individual photos assigned to each tag.
Got any suggestions or alternatives?

That would depend on what software you are using, WM. If its Word, you can just import each picture. StarOffice should do the same thing. Anything else, though, I'm afraid that I wouldn't know.

In MS Word, I do have to insert each photo individually. I was ready to do that (there are 40), but I kept having trouble with the justification. I think Word is setting up the document (8 tags to a page) as a table. When I insert the pic, I can't get the text wrapping to behave. I think it has to to with the way text behaves in a table.
I tried PrintMaster, but that sets up 1 master name tag and won't let me put individual pics in.

witty, in word, if you right click on the pic, and click on picture properties, you can specify whether you want text to wrap around the pic or not, and tell it where to put the pic (left, right, center)
