Hi there!
Qualcuno qui parla italiano?
No?
Well, I was wondering, 'cause I've seen the name of the restaurant, and suddenly I was very curious. The fact is: in italian we say ristorante, not restaurante.
We would say:
Ristorante mamma Peta
But then, perhaps you WANTED to call it that way... Just curious.
Anyway, I like to give italian lessons!
By the way, do you have some of that interesting risotto just now?
It seems to smell deliciously...!

Buon' giorno, signore! Io parlo poco poco Italiano ma...
...I wasn't around when the 'restaurante' was opened, so I've no idea if the name fault was intentional...
I'm afraid we're a bit short of staff - only thing I've got cooking right now is a vegetarian lasagne - but I've added goat cheese... would that do instead of the risotto?

(sitting confortably at the table, playing wih the fork)
Lasagne verdi? Hmmm...
Perche' no?
Grazie... e un bicchiere di acqua naturale, per favore!
(love this feeling at home)

Si signore!
*drifting off towards kitchen, returning with order, places it on table*
*floating in behind bar counter, rummaging around*
*mutter* Where's that bartender when you need him?*
Ah - found it!
*puts a bottle of mineral water, no bubbles, and a glass on the table*
Did I get it right?

perfect!
Oh! I love this feeling of family business, here...
Not many clients, lately?
*eats the lasagne eagerly...*
Well, perhaps a little bit vino della casa?
Possible?
Just sit down with me for a minute and tell me how this restaurant business started...
*makes place on the table... shuffles chairs on the side*

*slurping the last remains of the lasagne... fetching the souce with bread (not very polite in a restaurant, but you know...)*

Oh - don't worry, I do that all the time...
*returns with a bottle of red wine and two wine glasses*
*pours*
*sits down on chair by table*
I only found this place a couple of months ago, so I'm afraid I don't know much about it - I've heard it used to be a busy place, but I think the conversations from far back are yet to be Moderated...

Aha... And now no more clients? Not busy anymore?
They probably opened some McDonald's round the corner, here... I used to say: Slow food, fast friends... see?
sitting at the table, enjoying the savours, the silence, the company...
In busy Milano, having a right lunch break can be difficult: people running everywhere... I don't want to live faster than my digestion!
And I love lasagne, in every form!
What else do you do here around? Other places, conversations?
*pours the wine into the glasses... raises it for a toast*
... cin cin!

Skål!
Well, I'm one of the h2g2 Guardian Angels, so I fly around trying to be all around helpful, greeting newbies ocassionally...
...but these are two of my favourite places:
What used to be called The Aroma Café: <./>F26140?thread=160095&latest=1</.>
Lil's Atelier: <./>F38024?thread=163701&latest=1</.>
In both cases I recommend that you check the entries thoses conversations belong to, as well as reading a few of the very first postings in each conversation - it'll give you an idea about what kind of places they are!

I think I'll have a look...
By the way, it seems to be time to go...
Thanks for the lasagne, the wine, and especially the warm friendly welcome and atmosphere...
*fumbles in his bag...*
Shall I pay to you directly or go to the counter?
*blushes a litte... as always speaking about money*

Hmm... you're actually the first customer I've served, so... hmmm...
...I think I'd prefer help with washing up in the kitchen later... how about it? Looking for a job?

well, well, well...
Let's see... Perche' no?
After all, I'm just arrived, so... let's say I'll help with the dishes AND the kitchen, perhaps? And why not greet customers in italian?
Deal done!
Where's the kitchen? Soap?
