A Conversation for Valentine's Day (also known as the most depressing day of the year)

So you feel Valentines Day a commercial enterprise! It is along with Christmas, Mothers & Fathers day etc. I'm single and used to find Valentines Day hard, when all the media bombard us with the couples ideal. It is indeed a day when it is not possible to go out as a single person.
I found it best, not have expectations or hope and treat it like any other day.
Valentines Day

I find myself focusing on those I love on Valentine's not on who loves me. If I spent the day waiting for flowers or candy or even a card it would be a waste of time. I still buy Valentine cards for the forty-some children I know. If I recieve a gift I am greatful and somewhat suprised. I do not expect to get anything on Valentine's except the joy of knowing I have made someone a little happier. (And if you believe that I have ocean front property in Arizona for sale!)
p.s. I did recieve a gift from one of my students, which was lovely I might add.

Are you saying you recieved a Platonic Valantine? That's even worse than getting nothing at all. What it really says:
Nobody fancies you, but I feel sorry for you.
