lol, I didn't know that it had been reassigned. Sounds like a real pickle.
I guess that all we can hope to do is be more careful in the future and attempt to find out the real intentions of the writer in question. It shouldn't be that hard, except for the fact that alot of the articles that I have gotten are from so long ago that the writers have long stopped going to their pages. It kind of sucks to have the sub-eds so far behind. Oh well, it can't really be helped, can it?

I think it would be great if we could get all the FFFF sub-eds to handle the articles of the members. We spend so much time talking anyway, a bit of conversation over article changes wouldn't be a stretch, and it'd be a nice fringe benefit--your articles get handled by people with a conscience.

Engels42 (Thingite Minister of Leaky Ethics and Spiffyness) Posted Apr 17, 2000
lol.
Conscience is always good, that and the ability to use grammar correctly is nice also. (Something that I really lack!)
Like I said however, there are a lot of articles (We're probably behind like a couple of years), and the whole process of dividing the articles is all automated and random, which kind of sucks because it would truley be great if we could choose the articles we wanted to edit.
That would most definetly allow us to edit articles that we at least know something about. I mean I have an article right now about some kind a high altitude sickness, I'm an astrophysicist (Well a starting out astrophysicist, that is), not a biologist. I actually have to put in research effort into that one!

Fortuately, the Foundation boast quite a few members with Sub-editor and ACE responsibilities. The chances of a Sub-ed Foundation member getting another member's article is therefor much better.

Like I did
Anyway, I haven't been following this thread from the start. Whose article had DNA having a stab at it?

Alon (aka Mr.Cynic) Posted Apr 17, 2000
GB's Atheism article - the approved one. That's why we're going on about editing so much. There are at least three active threads down there arguing about atheism and the word "faith" - what a fantastic it is - whoever could have imagined such a debate arising from it .

Wow. When I went to the article (theday it was on the front page) there was precious little discussion there.
Oh well, keep on rocking-an'-rolling

Hey everyone, sign me up.
I'm a atheist born of atheists. I'd like to be the chair of breasts please. . I like them.
Faith is just one of many words. It has a precise meaning and so isn't worthy of much debate. ().

Welcome hammy! I'll add you to the rolls shortly, and it's good to know who to contact when I need breasts.
Mike A: I've been thinking about sending an email to that Marilyn Manson site, just to let them know who the puppetteer is. It seems to me that MM is using their irrational fears to gain himself tons of free publicity, and LaVey did the same. Ought to shock the hell out of them, eh? I'll post the message here for your enjoyment.

I am cleansed... here's the text of the email I just sent to the webmaster of that Marilyn Manson site:
"The Christian theology teaches that there is an invisible force controlling the actions of mankind, a sort of master puppetteer, and that your actions are foreordained. As a follower of that sect, you are indeed a puppet, but I believe you will be unhappy to learn who pulls your strings.
Irrational fears have often been used to control the weak. Consider children. Many kids have been told that if they stay out too late, the Boogie Man will come for them. This irrational fear, without any basis in fact, keeps the kids in the house, when they would rather go outside and play. Similarly, imaginary rewards have been used, such as the Santa Claus myth as an incentive to good behavior.
Christians have lots of irrational fears and imaginary incentives, and those can be manipulated to produce redictable results. So when the author of the Anton LaVey decided he wanted to create a new religion as a counter to the evil of Christianity, one that promotes self-worth rather than self-degradation, one that is life-affirming rather than life-denying, he needed a way to insure that people would get his message. So he used Satan as a metaphor, and pulled the strings of Christianity. The result is that everyone on the planet was talking about his book, and a lot of people read it. Anton LaVey's fame is based entirely on the reactionary Christian
right, and he laughs all the way to the bank.
Marilyn Manson has learned the lesson of his teacher, and he does the same thing. The more you people rave and rant about him, the more curious people become, and so his shows are packed with people who really don't care for his music, but are interested in his show and his message. And, you further alienate yourself from mainstream, when you rant about some of his quotes. I'd never heard any of his quotes before, but after clicking your links, I realize that, underneath all the makeup lies the mind of a fairly intelligent mind liberated from the foolishness of your cosmology. His quotes make sense, so I am, reluctantly, gaining a measure of respect for the man.
Anyway, my purpose here is not to convert you, as that would clearly be a waste of my valuable time. My purpose here is not to convince you that your view of Satanism is completely warped, or that Marilyn Manson has some valid things to say, because you cannot see another point of view through your filter of irrational fears. My purpose here today is to point out the fact that Manson controls your irrational fears, and by doing so, controls you. This web site is a tribute to him that his fans (other than the diatribes and the foolish quotations of a defunct religious text) will quite enjoy. And, because it is presented as it is, it will also draw people who
are NOT his fans, thus spreading his influence. You, sir, the webmaster of this site, are the tool of that which you hate most. If Manson is the devil, then you are his servant. And every other web site, magazine article, talk show diatribe, or any other media reference by the people who think as you do are no different."

GB, that is one excellent letter.
That should really serve to possibly open up at least one christians eyes. They'll probably try to convert you

The geezer of that site still hasn't got back to my email. T'would be interesting to see what he's got to say about GB's.
That was a great message, really well thought out. Congrats to GB!
I must say, I was looking for MM sites to try and find some of his lyrics. I ended up at that site. Though I was might angry with that xtian guy, I still got my lyrics. And they've become my signature of emails. So hats off to this guy for providing free advertising to others, of his most hated enemy!

Be sure not to leave us hanging, and post any response. Hell before long, we may have to devote a seperate forum just for your correspondance! Certain to be entertaining. I serioulsy doubt that the e-mail will do much good in the short run. I am sure the webmaster is young and zealous, and see this 'attack' as a measure of his faith, and will beseech (perhaps order?) his Lord to send an army of angels to fight the batallion of demons he will be certainly convinced that you have in your employ. You may have stregthned his faith. Christians are so fond of thinking that uttering their truths, even if not accepted at first is equivalent to planting a seed. Perhaps God will change our hearts, or perhaps Godlessness will change his.
Should I start taking bets who will convert who first?
(My money is on the webmaster eventually getting tired of constantly putting out ACD (Adversarial/Aggressive Christian Dogma) and changing his ways)

I'd like to claim the chair of "The Reluctant Dead", the position that shows that even in death I will refuse to let go of my conviction: the idea of a god (I even refuse to use a capitol in that word) is absolutely ridiculous! Sign me up, if you please, GB!

Warm hand of welcome extended to The Mummy, who I know from recent experience will have plenty to add to these pages...
Just a small point of protocol. Do you prefer to be called 'The Mummy' or just plain 'Mummy'? It's been bugging me since yesterday evening, when I sent that other posting...
Regards, Lear
