I've just jammed my little finger in the door! It really hurts, has started to swell up and is developing a nice purple bruise. It's also starting to go numb, which is good because it's not hurting as much, but now i can't type with it!

once again proving the benifits of a virtual existence over real life. After all how many doors have you trapped yuo fingers in around here?

I haven't seen any doors around here...but if there were some, I'm sure I trap my fingers in them as well...

Yes, but does trapping virtual fingers in virtual doors hurt ? I don't think so, especially as earlier I was playing a demo of Quake III and getting virtually blown to pieces, and yet my flat is remarkably free of dismembered body parts

Unless you'd repeatedly banged your head against your keyboard in an attempt to log off (Joolsee's approach)

Haven't tried that. I'm *lucky* in that I have a flaky modem on a flaky BT line on a flaky free ISP. I rarely go 10 mins without it going down on me, let me re-phrase that in case there are impressionable youth around, it fails every 10 minutes or so.

My connection disconnects automatically every 2hrs, but I just reconnect straight away, which sorts of defeats the object. What can be really annoying though is when someone dials 5 after they've tried to call you so as soon as it disconnects the phone rings...
My friends use this tactic, which I suppose is good because they can get in touch with me...

Stupid friends. Don't they know they have to log on find which forum(s) you are on and say "Oh E, get off line"
I have a mobile which is always on when I'm on;ine so I can be got by the few friends I have.
WRT the 2 hour thing. Isn't it not the case that if you open another browser window this bypasses the cut-off? I know some "free" ISPs worked liked this.

Or they could just e-mail me, then I'd get it...
...there isn't a way around the 2hr thing as far as I can see...I've just got to live with it.

OK I suppose, I can't stay on long though - I've got revision to do... I've got a mock chemistry tomorrow, mock biology & physics on Tuesday...then driving test on Wed...hmm...let me see...what else...oh yeah...I've got to record a compostion tomorrow, play the clarinet with a sore throat for someone elses composition (not nice )...and music composition (as in written down) due in, some performances to practice for the mock music recitals...then a bit later (about 2 weeks) I've got real exams (I hate doing modular courses)...*sigh* I have too much to do...which is why I can't stay on for long tonight...
...Sorry for whining...
...Oh, yeah, on top of it all my e-mail packed up a couple of days ago, so I went and got a new address (which is far better ) only for it to decide to work again this morning! Annoying! But I like the new address much more...I've changed the link to it on my homepage...and have told the old one to forward any mail it recieves to my new address...
...but I'll cope...I always do...
(Joanna think's that, that's my motto...)
I really didn't mean to go on so much...I'm very, very sorry.
How're you?
Ow!
Joolsee Posted Feb 13, 2000
I don't call that "going on", I call that having a full life!
Good luck with everything, and I hope the throat feels better soon.

Me? OK, I suppose. My family are all way on holiday, so I miss them a bit. I'm away from next Saturday for three (3) weeks, which I'm almost looking forward to. I'm feeling a bit alone.
Still, work tomorrow, which helps. I'm really busy, so I soon forget my small and self-created troubles.
Don't feel you have to reply to this post - sounds like you've got more important things to do.
Good luck!

Thanks, but my sore throat is more stubborn than my finger...
BTW, there is some good news...it's DE's B-Day tomorrow (19) so I really think you should come here http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?forum=24731&thread=39506 and say something before he gets on-line tomorrow.
I'm going now though...bye...
