and yet more history, but mixed with madness
Mustapha Posted Feb 25, 2000
No, I've tried that Jedi mindtrick before, Zarq, it doesn't work.
My only real guideline for historical entries is that they have at least one date somewhere: it shows the Entry is at least partly factual, and also if they've gone to the trouble of looking up a date, then the rest of the article is likely to contain factual information as well.
BTW Zarq, if you want to have a go writing an entry on me you're welcome to try. I admit it'll be quite odd being interviewed, usually it's the other war round. As the interviewee, I reserve the right to rip off my microphone and storm out of the studio at the drop of a hat at any point during the interview.

and if he's like the cricket fans in NZ - he'll slash your tyres and pelt you with refuse also.
You get bonus points from all Australians if you hit Shane Warne!
I agree Film History et al should be under another wing - and once its set up, I'll go nuckin' futs.

Double bonus points if you knock the ciggie out of Warne's mouth!
The Cinematic History section has been put up, and when it gets to a reasonable size, it shall receive its own wing.

Alighieri, your articles are fast becoming my favorites.
Mustapha, thanks for sending the info. Very nice. I hope you don't mind if I leave bits of it out. I have a certain format in mind. I'll probably do that over the weekend. BTW, are you going to use my Powell article? Of course it's up to you, but I'd like to know if you're not, and why.

Mustapha Posted Mar 3, 2000
Certainly I intend to use it, I just haven't got around to it yet.
Y'see, I have a Post-It based system of Entry addition. I jot down on a Post-It, entries I deem of worthy of a link. When I fill said Post-It (which usually means a list of 10-12 Entries) I then add them all in one Edit session, checking them off as I add them and check them to make sure the links are correct.
Then I can stick them all together in one big wad, for a purpose yet to be devised.
The Hall Of Records
Dazinho Posted Mar 5, 2000
Hey y'all!
Over at the Freedom From Faith Foundation, we've started a system that incorporates a linked series of book reviews and critiques. The purpose of this is manifold; to stop people from spending their hard earned wad on a book that turns out to be a complete duffer; a means of discovering other works by your favourite non-fiction authors, or of finding similar works on the subjects that interest you; a way of checking references via your fellow writers here at h2g2; and so on.
However, the aims of the FFFF are not the aims of the Historical Society. We aim to discover the hidden; to expose the crooked; to peel away the myths; and to eff the ineffable. If anyone would like to submit a review, please feel free, but also please take a moment to look round the Foundation's home page to get a taste of what we are after.
http://www.h2g2.com/A275122 is the link to the Hall Of Records main page. Entries are listed by title, by author, and by subject(s). Review should include all this information, together with ISBN numbers to aid your fellow man in tracing books they're interested in.
http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?forum=34654&thread=42100 is the forum for leaving word that you have a review ready to post, or an idea for any changes and improvements you would like to see. Bear in mind that this is extremely new, so please be patient if any bugs exist.
If you have not come across the Freedom From Faith Foundation previously, please follow the link from my home page as I can't remember the reference!

You're gonna have to do worse than that to lose my respect Ali. Sorry I'm late for your article Mustapha. I've been busy. I've got to stop posting deadlines and just do it when I do it.

Here's your article Mus.

Sometime in the not-so-distant future, I'll linkify a lot of things in it. I won't be writing any more articles for at least a week, maybe longer, because I have some other projects I need to work on. But have no fear--I shall put electronic quill to digital parchment once again, just as soon as I get some things acomplished. And I'll still be reading the forums.

First of all, let me give an official thanks to Zarquon for the very flattering (but let's face it, thoroughly deserved) Bio-Entry on me.
Second, this thread's getting a tad long, so I'm moving it here http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?forum=30582&thread=43233
Third, what do you think about a newsletter?
