I can take jibes about my spelling as long as they are meant in jest and from people who know me and know my condition. Which is mildly dyslexic. I have fought to overcome this.
However when that is being continually overused in the Presidnetial campaigns as a slur on me, especially after I have repeatedly explained it to others, it can leave me feeling kinda low.
As the previous two journal entries show I have had a streesful 10 days IRL and so when I see my spelling slagged again, I take a sharp and sudden nose dive back to the depth. I always thought this was a FUN place to hang out, however I may not be able to enjoy myself if people continue to pick up on every single spelling mistake that I make. We all make typos maybe I don't always pick up on mine, but that doesn't stop me enjoying this site.
However tonight I am really depressed and seriusly considering not only my future in the Prez campaign but also my future on h2g2 as a whole. I'm going to sleep on it and will let you all know shortly goodnight.

DD, I for one don't want you to drop out of the presidential race and I certainly wouldn't want you to feel that you should leave h2g2 altogether. I know I am not going to be alone in this.

Awww, DD, please don't take it so hard. I betcha lots of researchers don't know about your dyslexia. I didn't until now. I thought your fingers just couldn't keep up with your quick wit.
I remember that you and BluesSlider were bantering at the F&F one time about spelling mistakes (you were swapping a's and i's) and you made one particularly funny one on purpose:

"Thinks BS.
TGA Fradiy"
Up until that point, I had never posted to a forum. That specific incident made me laugh so hard I had to un-lurk. So look at the silver lining, you're responsible for adding at least one additional researcher to the community.
*hopes DD doesn't regret that he's responsible for WM being here*

Hey DD, hope you're feeling more positive today
Hope you're going to quit the prez race because of 'opponents' being picky and trying to point out faults. I've been feeling much the same myself, but have decided to continue because otherwise I'd be letting my loyal supporters down a bit... and by the looks of the polls you've got more loyal supporters than me anyway
I think some people are taking this election thing way too seriously, and getting really competitive about it. I think the best thing to do is to just ignore them when they get like that. (They'll only lose votes by being negative, anyway)

Hopefully the above was a typo Peregrin.
And that you hope I don't quit the election.
OK upon reflection there is no way I will leave h2g2 in the foreseeable future, and I feel I cannot quit this election campaign. What have been leveled against me no matter how clumsily have been really hurtful remarks, but I can overcome that. They were made in error by people who didn't have all the information, a lot of us here know each other well enough to make sacastic comments and know they will be taken in the light intended and even word them in such a way that the joke is known to the intended target. Ha life here IS FUN!!!!
So I'll be returning to my duties and I aim to win the race for the presidency of h2g2. So you have been warned, all powers and dictionaries in my possesion will be aiming to get me into the virtual White House at 1600 Towers Avenue.

What's the point in me coming in here as someone you don't know (I figured there'd be many people you did know here so I'd be different )ready to tell you that you can't leave as I've already promised Peregrin I'd vote for you, when you've already posted to stay you're staying...now I just look like a random person who's got lost and in confusion wandered in here and started talking gibberish...which is not true as I came here purposefully although I will conceed to the gibberish...
*looks embarrased*
Hmmm, I'll get my coat

DD, juust taking a quik cruise thru h2g2 before skipping out of town and probably offline for 10 days and noticed your forum here.
Sorry, I wasn't about to help you decide to "stay the course", but really glad you are.
Seem to remember something about your splng difficulty, but never thought a thing about it. "It's not the gift, but the 'thought' that counts."
In a previous life I was online as part of my job and the spelling and punctuation didn't near as much as the coordinates. So, as long as the thought is there and you're on the mark; who cares how you get there. Da?
And, I'm really sure any comments generated about dyslexia were meant as harmless pokes to liven up the campaign.
(Can't help myself.)
TO ANY AND ALL WHO STOP BY:
VOTE!VOTE!VOTE!VOTE!VOTE!VOTE!VOTE!VOTE!VOTE!
(and may the best plant win. [really can't help it.])
Glad you're feeling better and remeber, It's all in your head.

Just remembered I don't have a coat as I've never been able to get one to fit over my wings but I'll take that ballot paper...although it would be more fun if we could have a ballet paper as then my fairy tutu wouldn't look so out of place but never mind
Oh yeah, just one more thing I ought to warn you that Peregrin also assured me that the presidential race thing was to be the one who got to be in charge of the HUGE bouncy castle with pretty lights, music and free white chocolate for all...but I'm sure that's right isn't it?

Hey, is it SUPPOSED to link right into my e-mail account? I've got Juno (unfortunately ) and I had to e-mail my response.
Anyway.
HI DD!!! *more big hugs* Hey, you know I'm mildly dyslexic, too. I get it from my mom. That's why it takes me so long to post. I'm being my own spellchecker.
