Christmas cake and Christmas pud you can buy in the supermarket all are made with Mazipan (an Almond dirivative) or contain Almonds. Why? Many people have nut allergies or intolerances yet the main supermarkets do not cater these essential Christma commodities for those, like myself, who may find our airwaves constircted if we eat almonds or other nuts.

If I had the time to make my own I would have done so by now but haven't had the time this year so much for convenience. Thank God I'll be spending Christmas 5 minutes walk from the A & E. smiley - winkeye

You've got a dog? smiley - dog

And how do you know the dog isn't allegic to marzipan? Oh, you'll risk it with the dog will you? I think I'll call the RSPCA. Have you had your dog tested for nut allergy? No, I think *not*. I've heard about people like you...

*mutter, mutter*

I won't get a chance the dog is so big he'd overpower me trying to give his 'food' to anyone else. The dog has been eating marzipan since before I came on the scene Peta.

The thing is though, peta, that most of the yulelogs use synthetic chocolate with that horrible Bicarb tate. It is rare to get 'REAL' chocolate yule logs.
As for almonds, there is a product in america called nu-nuts, that is 'detoxified' peanuts reflavoured with walnut or pecan oil, that appears to reduce anaphylactic reactions. Unfortunately I cannot trace the manufacturer.

PS, smiley - love marzipan. smiley - tongueout
