Have a look at the bold bit in http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A516052#rereg - it tells you how to get help with this problem.

Just thought I'd let you know that I'm having the same problem - I've e-mailed the address though.
While I'm here I'll let you know that the site keeps causing my browser to crash. I don't know if this is a problem at my end, or whether other people are having the same trouble, but I thought I'd let you know anyway.

Em-barassing! I seem to have forgotten my password to my original account, which is really embarrasing as I only re-activated the thing a few days ago. I am researcher 90978, and my original password has gotten me stumped, I've tryied it a couple of hundred differedt ways, and it doesn't seem to be working... please if you could, E-mail it to me at my new address....AOL..
Thank you

I clicked on the always remember me on this computer button, and I forgot both my login name and my password. I wonder if I could be given some aid in this.

I am in a similar predicament to a lot of others here, I have
*totally* forgotten what email address I used to register on the original site..and have done all kinds of tedious things like move house etc etc and consequently have no idea at all what email address/password combo I could possibly have used..in fact I am afraid that an email address I might have used is now no longer valid (netscape made me change my username..but that's another story!!)...anyway! I was originally:
mooglebug researcher number: 132192 and would very much appreciate someone sending my details to whatever email address it was i registered under, so I can update everyfink....
grins and stuff..
mooglebug xx
ps. it's a total pain in the arse having to register in order to ask for help..is there any chance of a more efficient way of doing things?
pps. obviously the problem is, I might not really be me..I might be an evil doer *pretending* to be me...but perhaps we won't go there!!
pps. but I do appreciate the help!!!

Hi. I haven't been here for over a year, and now can't get back in. On top of that I've looked at my entries, and they aren't visible. Apparently waiting to be re-activated by me, or 'moderated'
I'm Orinocco (R51290)
I beleive I gave my email address as [email protected] when I first became a researcher, but it doesn't work with any password I can remember.
Can someone help me back in ?
Many thanks (Uncle Bulgaria will be ever so pleased if you can help)

Hi Orinocco!
You can send an email to [email protected] with as much information as possible, then the h2g2 team will try to help you via email. It might take a couple of days though.
Hope to see you back as U51290 soon!

if there was a chemical war and nearly everyone died but all the computers were ok then the people who survived could find out what the old earth was like by going on h2g2 and they could rebuild society as we know it!!!
Maybe an emergancy system should be set up so that it can be activated if a war does start it would automatically turn it's self on in 100 yrs or something and would be open to everyone with no password or something. just trying to save humanity here.
