It would have been nice to have proper pronounciation symbols from SAMPA ( http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/sampa/home.htm ) or IPA.
Also, "voiced version of the kh above" - I think it means the kh below?

I think the pronunciation guide I provided was adequate. Putting an extra column of symbols would only make it look cluttered.
Your right about "kh above". It should be "kh below".

I'm not saying that your guide was inadequate just that the symbols would have been a nice addition. Not necesarilly in a seperate column - they could have shared a column with 'modern pronounciation' and 'ancient pronounciation'. I think having such symbols makes pronounciation guides much more usable, personally.

Hello
I am hoping you can help me out with something. I belong to a theatre group and we will be performing the Trackers of Oxyryhnchus by Tony Harrison in a couple of weeks. The play contains ancient greek and we are in desperate need of a phonetic translation! I have printed off your alphabet list but I am worried that my attempt will be totally wrong.
Id this something you would be willing to help with? There isn't very much to translate but it is integral to the piece..
Look forward to hearing from you...

I've more or less retired from h2g2, but I popped back and found this here. How much Greek is there? I'll give it a go, but I'm not an expert on Ancient Greek.
