U2726264 Cookeicate. Seems to have posted to themself. I tried to post a message explaining, but there was a problem. Just thought I'd bring it to your attention. Sorry if you already knew.

Cookeicate is not a h2g2 Researcher, and doesn't require an Ace Welcome, more than that, we are not allowed to Welcome those of other BBC boards. But thanks for taking the time to post here Aximili

No problem. I just thought she was a member as she was posting on our forums. Sorry to have troubled you.

>>Lookie there, GB is also a member of the 'food' message board<<
Yes, it's message board, that does not have the same facilities as h2g2, all GB has served to do is to confuse Cookeicate, when she finds out she can't see some of the pages. There are good reasons why we are often reminded that we should not post our Welcomes on Message Board PS's.

Emmily, I bet GB wasn't aware that cookeicate isn't an h2g2 member, or else she wouldn't have posted there. You know it can happen accidentally, it happened to you, too, the other day.

That was a couple of months ago Bel, I posted here on the Aces Home page what happened, and that I had the post hidden, purely due to posting on a non h2g2 Researcher. I thought after that we were all being more careful, and checking the newbies list, that any unwelcomed newbies were h2g2 Researchers, though that would be much easier if it wasn't the slowest page on hootoo to load.

Correction, the Ace Welcome was not hidden, it was removed

Is it just me, or is hootoo very slow at the moment anyway ?
I don't think it would have made sense to have a look at the newbie page in this case, the account has existed since 2005. And you're right, maybe GB should ask for the post to be removed.

Yes, I noticed it was slow. I was rushing to post, as my partner wanted to go on PC, it seemed to takes ages
The only thing I can remember about message boards, is they don't have a jounal, maybe the Ace Welcome won't be much of a problem. TiT usually turns up in these threads, if he does, and mentions other differences I'll make a note of them. We never had these problems before SSO

Traveller in Time showing up
"Think everything is 'clear' and correct.
Saw the welcome by 'Galaxy Babe' as well as the activities of 'cookeicate' on the dna cluster.
The Messageboard Hosts do not like to see the Message Center used (it is outside of the forums for the board), but as the member can not look from their own board (as if the board is a skin) there will not be much confusion. The member will have to visit HooToo to look at their Message Center and all smileys and links work .
As 'Cookeicate' is mainly a contributor to HooToo I think it is not really bad to have them welcomed this way. However try to welcome the next member in the conversation you find them in, or on one of their HooToo entries. "

Emmily.
Sometimes the list doesn't work properly either.
I've had it where I've welcomed someone on the list, yet they didn't register with hootoo.
Sometimes glitches happen

If you select the " Only show users from this site." button you should only see researchers who have registered with hootoo.
They may have posted to other boards but are still registered here.
If they are not registered with h2g2 you will not be able to leave them a message.

Traveller in Time rephrasing
">If they are not registered with h2g2 you will not be able to leave them a message.
Well this may be the case for your account, I can lkeave messages for (nearly) all sub-sites.
Think a better formulation is:
>If they are registered with a sub-site you have not Signed-In to (Reading the local terms and conditions and confirming by pressing the [take me to ....] button) you will not be able to leave them a message.
Basically you will see a message you have not signed into HooToo .

Emmily ~ Roses are red, Peas are green, My face is a laugh, But yours is a scream Posted Sep 25, 2006
As Bel mentioned, they'd registered last year, so it would have been very difficult, if not impossible to check the newbies list. (as I don't use Brunel I don't have the advantage of seeing that )
I was a bit miffed because I felt it had made me look stupid, when I posted the reason why Cookeicate hadn't received an Ace Welcome, and wasn't likely to, at the same time GB posted her Welcome post on their PS...as you all know, I'm more than capable of making myself look stupid, without anyone's help.
Anyhow, no harm done, shall we have some and and forget about this now.
