I'm not really here Started conversation Oct 31, 2003
Hi fellow ACEs!
I've finally managed to drag my old ACE greeting out, and I thought I'd check to see what you all thought of it before I started again. It's been a long time since I ACEd someone as an ACE!
I keep it short and sweet, because I don't want to scare people off with loads of links, when there are already loads of links to follow on this site, so I only use one - to an entry that includes all sorts of interesting things.
I might add the link about the tour to my actual greeting, but I'm not sure yet.
I'm going out now, but if you wouldn't mind giving me your opinions that would really help. I'm a bit rusty!
PS - the aren't part of the greeting, I'm jsut using them as a line break.

Just realised I need to update that entry as it still says Abi works there.
I'll work on that later. Any opinions on that would be great too.

Sounds fine to me ..you might like to mention the Don't Panic page though, but I expect that's already on your links page.

when i first came a ace,My welcomes was very long as i used to put all the links i could think that would be intresting.
No one ever came back to me on those,so i thought may be they got bored by the time they got to the end.
so i done a guide entry with my own welcome page here A1103815
Now i keep my welcomes short, directing them to my welcome page if they need guidance.
This way seems to help wonders, and i get more feed back than i did before.
So i think this way works more,
They still get a warm welcome with less to read,so they get less boared of it.

I have had some good feedback from mine too, i think it is important to provide links - in fact imperative - but providing one link to a page of links is a good idea, as they are still getting the info.
I am going to re-jig mine soon, so may consider doing it that way, but equally i might not!

*waves* to Mort
Everyone has there own way of doing it,
depends on which way you feel works best for each individual is different.
But like you say they still get the information for what i provide,
I know a couple of other aces also have a welcome page and works for them also.

I don't think that there will be any volume about my ACEing. Think of one a day as me being very busy.

Poor Mina, spend the weekend being ill and you will probably be ok for work tomorrow! S*ds law.
Jodan - go for it!
I will keep an eye on the newbie list, but I am going to spend the week concentrating on my support group as it has been a bit neglected recently (and filling in the pile of housing benefit forms that arrived yesterday )
Which probably means i will do nothing except get

I'm not really ready for work yet. Which is *really* annoying because I've got a day off tomorrow, and I was going to take J out to London. So I'm doing all my being ill, and recovering my strength on MY OWN TIME! How bloody unfair is that?

i thought if you are ill on pre-booked hols then you can reclaim that day. Probably need a docs note though.

Check your T&Cs Mina, you can probably claim that day back even if you're just self-certifying hope you've not got what I'm just getting over I wouldn't wish that on the winner of the Vogon Open Poetry Slime Bowl

because i was off for the last 6 months of the year and hadn't taken any holiday before that, they had to pay me for the 4 weeks i hadn't taken that year. But then again, we never got paid except for SSP when off sick anyway so i didnt feel guilty about it
