You're probably here because I came by your page to say welcome to h2g2. I've made this page in the hope that you'll find something here to amuse and enlighten you, and also to help you find your place in our community. Feel free to ignore anything that doesn't take your fancy.

Good places to start

If you haven't seen the Welcome page yet, then you should probably start here. Welcome
If you signed up to pay tribute to Douglas Adams, please do it here.

If you've managed to work your User Page, then you might like to write an entry of your own.
Click here to start. You should be able to get all the help you need at the GuideML-Clinic and also some writing advice here.

There is an official tour. It's worth doing, to find out more about h2g2.

Fun places

You should find plenty to browse if you check out The World of h2g2, especially Abi's desk.
Abi is our Deputy Community Editor, and she hangs out with the rest of the workers and keeps things running nicely for us.

If you'd like to know how to put in your conversations and entries, then click here and it should take you to a huge page, filled with them.
Another good place to find pictures to decorate your user space is the h2g2 Graphics Library.

A good place to find a virtual party is the Researchers birthday page. There's usually someone with a birthday that would apprieciate a new friend.

Remember, if you join a conversation in one of these areas, you should pay attention to the Laws of Continuity.

Interesting places

If you have a burning question you can try asking the h2g2 community at ask h2g2 or How do I? For questions about h2g2 itself, try h2g2 feedback, where you should be able to find the proper place to post your query.

You can also check out other researchers work at Peer Review, where work is waiting to get into the edited guide. If you want to write anything yourself, this is where you can post it, for plenty of constructive critism. Make sure you read the guidelines first.

Rather dull but also important places

h2g2 Announcements It's a good idea to subscribe to this page, as it will keep you up to date on what's happening on the site.

House Rules to keep the corridors and forums nice and tidy, and copyright rules to keep us all on the straight and narrow.
