If you want to know what really went on when Christianity was being set up then I recommend a book you can order on the net called 'The Holy Blood And The Holy Grail'. Heavy reading but worth every Florin.

Blatherskite the Mugwump - Bandwidth Bandit

I have read HB&HG, as well as its sequel, 'The Messianic Legacy.' It was these books which sparked my rapid transition from fence-sitting agnostic to full-blown atheist. I think taking them as the definitive word on the issue is a bit of a mistake, however, and I recommend you read more in this genre. 'The Templar Revelation' is a really good work that continues where the authors of HB&HG left off... reading HB&HG is a prerequisite for understanding Templar Revelation, but it does a good job of pointing out some of the shortcomings in that work. 'The Hiram Key' is another book that I strongly recommend... it does a fantastic job of examining Templarism, Freemasonry, and the origins of Christianity, starting from Sumeria and running forward to Egyptian influence on Judaism, and on through to Christianity.

For other recommendations, I suggest you check out the Hall of Records annex to the Freedom From Faith Foundation. The Foundation can be found here, http://www.h2g2.com/a254314 and the Hall's link can be found near the bottom of the page. It's a collection of book reviews that fall in this same sort of line. It's somewhat modest at the moment, but we have to start somewhere... smiley - winkeye
