Since registering in Sept., I've posted numerous welcoming notes to newbies (over the past few months), resulting in a few ongoing friendships, & even some compliments. Being a gregarious sort & having a bit of public relations experience, I certainly wouldn't mind contiuing to welcome new/recent registrants. I'll attempt to provide links to a few of my welcoming notes, in the next while.

Ok, I should've clarified that while I undoubtedly have the 'people skills', I have - to put it bluntly - "sweet f/a" as far as computer smarts/technical ability. In other words, I'm not sure if I've done this correctly, however I am sure there was at least 1 easier way to do it... http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/F120924?thread=266212 http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/F123472?thread=274395&post=3432757#p3432757 http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/F113175?thread=244555&skip=0&show=20 http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/F120323?thread=264241&post=3248824#p3248824 Well, that seems to have worked...

Hi there,J~z~c was among the 1st people to welcome me to h2g2 smiley - biggrin! He`d be a + asset to anyone, let alone h2g2!!He deserves to be an Ace smiley - ok,so what if he isn`t a computer-head? In that way he relates to those who weren`t born w/a computer in their hands;ie,someone like me-who grew up w/the Beatles,Gratefull Dead,Quicksilver Messinger service,Momma`s& the Poppa`s,Steve Winwood,Rollingstones, etc.,but I didn`t grow up w/a cumputer-indeed,I didn`t try 1 until Jan. last, when we got our new Dell.Human contact is much more important to me,rather than computer-finesse.So J~Z~C is my choice for a + ACE!! Please do consider him seriously-he merits it.Neugensmiley - bigeyes

Jazz takes a genuine interest in new folks on h2g2 and how they are doing. He's always encouraging friends on hootoo to drop by this or that newbie's page and say hello. He keeps a sharp eye out for people who live in the same area, or share certain interests. He would be excellent at steering newcomers around here.

Well, not specifially (certainly got a few things in the planning/deveopment stages subconciously), just got to overcome this irrational (yet grounded in past experience, which kind of ingrains it) fear of devoting time & thought t an article/entry, & then through some perhaps inadvertant faux pas having it whisked off to who knows where smiley - doh - & of course, not having a clue where/how to start trying to recover it.

So, kind of at that "when I grow up I wanna be..." stage, or as we borderline computer-illiterates would say "when I finally get a handle on this *rolls eyes*...exasperating thing, I plan on...".

Yippee!

At last jazz is going to try & do "officially" what he's been doing "unofficially" for ages, which is saying hi to new people & making them feel at home on hootoo.

Jazz, please don't worry about having massive computer skills; for goodness sake, look at me, I'm an Ace & I've only just(ish) learned how to copy & paste!!!

What is far more important is that you are a friendly, caring person, which you undoubtedly are.

I'm sure you're going to make a smiley - magic Ace! You certainly have every support from me!

No, he's not an official Ace yet I'm afraid! It's not quite as easy as that, we have to maintain standards you know, can't have any old riff raff just marchingin & demanding pretty badges can we?smiley - winkeye

No, I'm afraid he will have to undergo torment & agony like the rest of us noble Aces first, but he's a brave chap & I am sure he will bear up under the strain.

smiley - ta Neugen, I always did relate better to living, breathing beings (be it people or animals), than I did to objects..."heart & soul" y'know?
